Hi, my name is Ian peat
I have never joined one of these before but my wife said that she has been on it for me and said I should give it a go!
I have had crohns disease since I was 17, I am now 34, I have had no flair ups but in may 2011 things started to not be right. What ever I ate made me feel unwell to the point of my body closing down and never feeling the bad pain ever in my life. I was off work and in hospital twice in a five week spell. I was on steroids firstly to boost my weight and then went onto a drug called zapain which did work as it had codine in but made you constipated. This didn't work after a week as you were bunged up and created more pain, so they then put me on azathioprine for my crohns and tramadol for the pain.....
I have lost weight since then steadily, I was 14 stone something back then I am now 11"5. There's loads more to tell but I can't get better and back to my normal self with whatever I try, my diet is a joke and can only eat the same things which is driving my wife crazy!!

Hi
My stomach everyday make a growling noise after being in pain for a few seconds, this happen about once every two mins or so, after I eat anything. It used to be certain types of food but now in the last few months it anything. It is very embarrassing especially when your in front of clients selling new cars to them!

This is a very common problem. But since you are on Azothiaprin I am wondering when was the last time you saw your doctor? Azothiaprin takes about a month to work. Are you still on the steriods?

No not on steroids, came off them in march. Had a really bad flair up in march so went on them for one week after seeing my GP.

Been on and off azathioprine since may last year but haven't missed a dose since mid march, do they help as I am not seeing anything at the moment??
Also I am on tramadol which goes block pain but I am getting tired all the time. Drove for an hour yesterday twice and was so tired when I got in, I went to bed at 4.30pm and got up 3 hours later!!
Just on a mess and depressed with it all!

I am sorry you are having a rough time. I have been on Azo for 12 years and it works very well for me. Azo can cause problems for some people. I assume your GP is monitoring you. Going on an of steroids is hard on the body too. The Tramadol is for pain. Thats all it does. Do you have a GI? If you started the Azo last year and are now having having belly issues. I think you need to be re-evaluated. The tiredness and also the sleeplessness could both be symptoms of vitamin deficiencies. When was the last time you have blood-work?

Hi Ian and welcome to the forum. I'm glad you decided to join.

Since this most recent flare, have they done any new tests on you such as a CT Scan, Small Bowel Follow Through, Magnetic Resonance Enterography, etc? With what you're describing, I'm a little worried about the possibility of some complications that may have come about but it would be hard to know for sure without testing.

With the pain and weight loss you're describing, if they haven't conducted any tests lately, it's time to start demanding some.

I wish you well.
