I just got home from my follow-up with my GI doc. He thinks I should go to weekly shots of Humira and also wants me to start on the Imuran as soon as I get my enzyme blood test done to make sure I can metabolize the medicine properly.

I have an appointment with my PCP next Wednesday morning, so hopefully I can get the test done that day at the lab. He also said we were going to put my 2nd colonoscopy off until we get my medicines sorted out. No need to do one right now since I just had the scan, I guess.

I really hope these medicines get my flares in order. He said he still wanted to wait 4 more months to see if Humira is working and now with the Imuran. He said he doesn't want to give up on Humira yet for surgery unless I have another obstruction. So, fingers crossed I don't end up with another bad flare with these new meds :)

Great optimism :) That's nice that you don't have to get another scope right now! I'm not very familiar with the medicine you're talking about but I really hope it helps you feel well so you don't have to get surgery. Keep us updated! Positive thoughts your way------>

Thanks Melinda! I just accepted your friend request on FB! :applause:

Imuran is apparently a very popular (I almost wrote "poopular" :ylol2: ) medication for Crohn's. And Humira is a biologic injection (Remicade and Cimzia are also found in the biologic category). Both suppress the immune system :) The side effects still scare me for Imuran, but I'm really hoping I do well on it!

My fingers...toes are all crossed for you! From what I have read - you have been through a lot. I really HOPE this puts you in remission. What is a PCP?

PCP is personal care practitioner or something. Same thing as GP. Sorry. That's what my insurance calls a general doctor so I always call it that. I'm hoping for remission soon too! :) Thanks, Wendy!

Hey Marisa, azathioprine / imuran is working really well for me. I hope it does the same for you. By the way, how did you get on at that job interview at the college? Apologies if youve posted about this elsewhere.

Yeah, I'm really anxious to start the Imuran as I'm hoping it will help me. How long have you been on it? And again, I know this is different for everyone, but how long did you notice a change in how you felt? I'm terrified at the idea of eating anything not on my low-res diet because I'm worried I'll end up with an obstruction again. Even so, I'm pretty sure I had the obstruction because my meds weren't strong enough, rather than anything I ate.

I never got a call back about that job :p Ah well, haha. Obviously it wasn't meant to be. So, I'm waiting on other possibilities. Thanks for thinking about me though! ;)

Aw Good Luck little love
hope everything works out for you now, you've had a rough time!
