After I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in September 2008, I kept a diary during my time in hospital to vent my inner feelings, which I found varied from day to day. Most people are unaware of the disease, and priority is often given to cancer in research, even though the cause and cure for Crohn's are still unknown. Since been diagnosed, I have spoken to a number of people (many of which were my existing friends) who have been diagnosed themselves, and have similar fears to mine, and I no longer feel like I am alone on the subject. By raising awareness I hope we can at least be optimistic, or at least appreciate the things in life we take for granted.

You can check my diary via the link in my signature.

Feel free to add your own comments to the instalments.

Hello Andy, and welcome

I've read some of your journal entries and they articulate what a lot of us have gone/are currently going through.

Very sorry to read of what you're going through and hope you feel better down the road.

Feel free to bring up any question here, or if you need to, rant on about it.

Hello Andy and welcome to the Forum.

I'm off to check out the link you provided.

I hope to see more of you here. There's plenty to read,
join in on the forums, or just vent if you feel like it.

You are among friends and we're all in the same boat.

Sending healing hugs your way.

Nancy~:)

hi andy,

welcome, and i have also read your diaries, you have been through so much, i hope you are feeling better, im not here that long myself, just diagnosed yesterday, i thought i was bad until i came into this forum, but i now count my lucky stars that im only in the beginning stages i think, inflamation of the ilium, and the usual toilet things, that go with it, especially after i eat, also the tiredness gets to me the most as i seem to be just exausted all the time, but started meds today so hopfully will feel better soon, :(
how are you feeling now andy? you must be so glad to be out of the hospital, but im sure you will get a lot of support and advise here, the people here are great and the support they show is fantastic, so hope to hear from you soon,

sheila:tongue:

To be honest, I'm still feeling pretty ******. I hate the look of my body. Physically, it's ruined. There are holes everywhere, and my stomach feels so tight still from where they opened me up twice, and it doesn't seem to be getting any easier, even after all this time. The thing that worries me the most is ever being with a girl again- you know, intimately. I had enough issues with them before, but now I just feel so depressed.
Meh, I'll stop now before I go all emo on you.

By the way, I've linked to you via my website. Hope that's ok. I'm really taken in by this place already.
