Hi,
After suffering agony from fissure and no help from rectogesic or anoheal I had Botox and an examination under anaesthetic yesterday in uk nhs.
It was my first general anaesthetic and I was scared of that as well as the fear they might make my pain even worse!
I wanted to post this for the benefit of anyone living in terror of this procedure. So far pain has been minimal though local anaesthetic probably hasn't worn off yet. Also no BM yet either which I'm dreading! So far though things have been a million times better than expected.
Too early to say if it has worked but I am happy to share my experiences if anyone has any questions.
:poo:

Thank you so much for posting this. I know we've had quite a few people on the forum with questions about treatment for fissures. I really hope the treatment gives you some much needed relief. What did they say about the examination? Do you have to take any pain medication?

Hi there! I was so worried about the procedure I wanted to post this to hopefully provede reassurance.
I didn't see the consultant after the procedure I have a follow up in 8 weeks!!!! I have to assume from this nothing alarming was going on which is a relief as my fissure was positioned to the side which I believe is unusual. I was injected with local anaesthetic as well as general to help with recovery pain and given lactulose. That was it and do far feeling better than whee I went in - fingers crossed xxx
