My Story.

About 10 years ago I was in a lot of pain, and could not hold anything down. I also lost alot of weight, I was so boney. One day I ended up in the hospital and they eventually told me to come back so they can look inside of me via a camera...I never went back.

as of June I started having the same symptoms but worse, this time I was bleeding and had red eyes. Doctor thought I had cancer and in Aug found out I have IBD. The doctor told me I have to see another specialist but told me I can eat whatever I want (which is not true).

He put me on antibiotics, which messed me up a lot, called Asacol....I stopped taking them but I am going to a homeopathic doctor, who told me before I was diagnosed with Crohn’s to stop eating spicy food & red meat ( i love both ).

I work out alot as well, but now I get headaches and some days my blood level drops so low that I can't function.
it’s so tough, tiring, exhausting
How long to these flares last….mine started in June and its almost every day I am in pain….i think the first time it was a bit less the a year…UGH I don’t want to be like this the whole year.

I read someone else's thread, they took turmeric.....I think I will try that.

Hi Mila and welcome to the community. Thanks for joining and sharing your story. We have a lot to discuss :)

1. Crohn's Disease is a VERY serious disease and it's extremely important that you treat it properly. Improperly treated Crohn's disease is a very scary beast and can lead to a whole host of very bad things. PLEASE take this disease VERY seriously.

2. If you didn't do well with Asacol (which isn't actually an antibiotic but an anti-inflammatory) please go back to your gastroenterologist and communicate this with them. Give them an opportunity to find the medication that works best for you. Yes, this can be a bit of a frustrating process, but it's important.

3. Yes, I believe most people need to watch what they eat. I believe that diet definitely plays a role in Crohn's Disease. However, "Don't eat red meat or spicy food" is an oversimplification. Keep a food journal and maybe look into diets such as the paleo diet and specific carbohydrate diet which some people with Crohn's do well with.

4. Yes, Tumeric/Curcumin is a good supplement, but that's all it is, a supplement. It can help, but is NOT a standalone treatment. You need to hit this disease from every angle.

5. There's a variety of reasons you may be getting headaches. Dehydration, mineral deficiency, or a whole host of other problems. Be sure to communicate this with your doctor.

6. If you're feeling tired, be sure to request a vitamin B12 and vitamin D test at your doctor. While there are many causes of fatigue in IBD, they are a couple common ones that are easy to remedy. Dehydration, anemia, and a whole host of others can also lead to the fatigue.

I want to reiterate it's important to work with a GI who really knows Crohn's disease. If you're not comfortable with yours, find another. It's find to go to a homeopathic doctor if that's what you believe in, but do that in conjunction with your regular GI.

We're here for you :)

I have been anemic since i was 4, but yes it has got worse now because of the bleeding.
I will be seeing another doctor Oct 9th, so hopefully he puts me on something else that will help me.
I also called his office for him to call me back with another Prescriptio.

I will check out the diets,
Thank you for the feedback
