Hi Everyone

I went to the ER today at 2pm and was discharged home at 830pm. I have terrible abdominal pain that is radiating to my back. They performed bloodwork and CT scan. Bloodwork was normal and CT didn't show any active inflammation. They did not do a CRP or ESR. I was stuck a total of 6 times by 3 different people for an IV just to be sent home in serious pain with 5 Vicodin pills. I am calling my GI in the morning because I didn't hurt this bad when I was admitted in Nov. I am so frustrated right now!!

Ugh, Jenny, I'm so sorry :( You poor thing :(

I don't have any advice for you but wanted to send some good vibes your way.

*hugs*

Hi Jenny,
You have been through quite an ordeal and it seems very wrong that you would be sent home in such pain.
Could you call them and let them know you are in dire straits with the pain.It just is not right for you to be suffering like this.
Did you see a GI team at the hospital?
Hope you will soon get the qualified help that you need so much
Hugs and best wishes
Trysha

If the pain is radiating to your back it sounds like you may have pancreatitis. Did they do blood tests for pancreatic enzyme levels?

I hope you are soon feeling better!

Hi Jenny41, I am sorry the e.r was so little help. And discharged w/ 5 pain pills? Thanks for nothin'!! I just want to say that is how my pain presents too. abbd pain radiating to the back. They took your blood and couldn't be bothered to check CRP or ESR? That seems odd to me. Perhaps the pain is being cause by scarring? Well I hope you start to feel better soon.

Thanks everyone, I just left a message for my GI to call me back. The pain has not any better. Lipase was done 184 normal is 84-300. Glucose was low. Hopefully GI will call back soon so I can get some relief.

My GI called today and she's ordering a Hida scan and an endo. Hida asap and endo Friday. Hope to have answers soon.

Hi Jenny the first time I went to a&e I had pain radiating from my abdomen to my shoulder blades and the first doc I saw told me that abdominal pain doesn't usually radiate into the back!!! If I hadn't been so I'll at the time I would've asked him where he bought his medical degree !!! That aside as we All know yes abdominal pain and inflammation can cause referred pain into the back. I was lucky though they did take my CRP which was about 90 that said they still let me home after 2 days with no answers. After that it all escalated rather quickly and it turned out I had an abscess forming and got treated rather promptly in a different hospital 1 month later. If you don't feel right don't hesitate to go back. Goodluck

Perhaps a hot water bottle on the belly may help you and some warm tea? Keep yourself warm and do not get chilled, as chills can cause cramping pain as well. Feel better soon!

Hi Everyone, I ended up back in the e.r. Wednesday night. I went to the one I am familiar with this time. They ordered blood test and an ultrasound of the gallbladder. The ultrasound was negative for gallstones and the doc said the bloodwork was just ok. He gave me the choice of going home or admission. I chose admission. Glad I did. My GI ordered an endo and Hida scan. Endo showed bile in my stomach and Hida scan showed 0 function of the gallbladder. I am having a cholecysectomy. I am releived to find out that I am not losing my mind. Thanks everybody for the well wishes and support.

Jenny

Hi All, I am finally home in my own bed. According to the surgeon the procedure went great but he kept me 2 extra days in the hospital. This is my second night home and I can't find a comfortable position to sleep. I think my bed is to flat. I have not had a BM since last Thursday either. Hopefully, it will all work out eventually.

Hi Jenny :) I'm glad you're finally home. I'm sure everything will work itself out eventually as you say. I'm glad everything went great and best of luck with the recuperation!
