just saying hi

Hello , I am new to this forum and was diagnosed with crones after having a perforated bowel and peritonitus which resulted in a emergency double resection ,previous to this I was diagnosed as having Ulcerative colitis .At the moment I am on the lofflex diet with fingers firmly crossed that it will work ,if any one else is on this diet would love to hear from you or your experiences on it .
Cheers Rob

Welcome, Rob! I've been seeing quite a few folks here who were first diagnosed UC and later dx'd with Crohn's on the table. I hope you're feeling better.

I can't say that I've heard of the Lofflex diet either, but I see Astra has you pointed in the right direction. You're in the right place! Lots of great folks here. I hope you find this forum as useful and calming as I have.

Hi Rob and welcome! You've been through a lot! I sure hope the lofflex diet works for you. I haven't heard of it, so I am now off to do some Googling!

Once again, welcome to the forum!

I obviously missed this when you posted! a belated welcome to the forum from the 'burbs of Milton.

I was on the Lofflex diet for a while but it's morphed into a 'whatever I can eat and get away with' diet.

Who do you see at Addies is it Stephen Middleton or one of the others?

welcome from another newbie. This is such a wonderful reassuring place. Thanks to all for the support.
You'll like it here Rob...

Hi Beth, looks as though we are nearly neighbours as I live in sunny Cottenham.
At Addenbrookes i have seen Mr Parkes or one of his registras but I have an appointment on the 16 th of sept and will have to wait and see whi i get! .Good to hear that you are able to be more flexible with your diet, as it sure gets monotonous and I have only been on it just under two weeks.

Oh yeah, haven't seen him but have heard of him. What is he like? I've seen a registrar and I think one of the other consultants Dr Lee - Chinese chap. All so far have been fine.

Good luck with the apptn.

He seemed nice enough but I was only with him for about 5 mins most visits were with his registras usually a different one each time , one had not read my notes and seemed to be making it up as he went along ,which didn't fill me with much confidance.

Cheers paddy for the welcome, yes its great to find somewhere that others know what you are going through.

Hi beth ,How did you get on with the lofflex diet and did it make any difference ? also how long were you on it before you introduced new foods ?

Lofflex. Well for me it was a way of introducing new foods in itself. Having got the go ahead to come off the Elemental and re-introduce proper food, it was the 'prescribed way' if you like.

So I started with chicken and rice, then fish and rice, then chicken and pasta, chicken with carrots and rice... etc. And as long as I didn't get any worse symptoms we ticked the new ingredient as a good one. So over a fairly long time frame we came to know what I can and more importantly what I can't.
After a while I just stopped referring to the booklet and tried foods I wanted to.

So I suppose you could say I got on with it very well, and I was introducing new foods from day one, because I started with nothing!
