I have gone into a pretty big low. I have been on Humira for over 2 months and it seemed to help at the start but now I can't really tell anymore. The one thing that has not changed is the bloating and extremely noisy abdominal area. I understand it can be noisy but this is unbareable already. I wake up at night due to the noise and when it rumbles it seems to radiate thorugh my whole body. The last little while has also been diarrhea multiple times per day, and the only thing i dont have that i should is a seat belt on my toilet eat. I try to keep my spirits up but now i think depression is setting in as i fear for the worst. I know we only can control so much but i over worry on everything. I had a GI appointment for April but called to get in asap, now i wait for a reply. I realize there are people in this world in greater stress than me but with the onset of this depression i just need some assureance and some kind of voice on the other end to say it will be ok. Thanks for listening!

Hi Jonathan

Try not to think that other people are worse off than you, you're suffering with something that is very real and very worrying for you.
It is gonna be ok!
Abdo sounds are normal and your doctor will be able to listen to them with a stethescope to determine whether there is increased movement or slowed down movements. These are called hyperactive and hypoactive. Both are normal activities, induced by your CD, or other things like meds such as codeine, but you're your own advocate, you know your body best, if this isn't normal for you then persist with the doctor to be checked. Don't want to scare you, but it also could/may be the sign of an obstruction, phone them again and get it checked.
good luck and hang on in there

Had a CT a month or so ago and sighns of narrowing but havent had a scope for over 3 years. I worryabout the worst case senario, and I shouldnt. Thanks so much for the reply.

Hey Jonathan

Feeling down seems to be a pretty reasonable and normal response to shifts and changes in our body, particularly when we're not sure what they're about.

I was on Humira, and it worked for me initially, then my symptoms came back and I was back on the toilet 10-12 times a day. My GI ended up having me increase my dosage to weekly injections and that worked for a while.

I hope you get a reply to get in to see your GI sooner than April!

Hey Johnathan,
I think lows are part of our deal too. I get to worrying about the lows and it becomes a circle. Yes, keep an eye or ear on the noises and keep a journal of when you go and how much you go. This may help determine if you need an increase in doses. You may be doing all this already. I just know when I went into see a new GI doc this week, I came in with "potty schedule" so that he could see how many times a day I went. It really helped as he was a new doc.

As I am typing this my stomach sounds like a brewery! I am so used to it it does not bother me. I think you should check it out though especially if it is new or different.

Good luck,
Michele

Hey JohnO,

I know how you're feeling - I was on Humira for 3 months before I could tell it was doing anything for me... Like someone else mentioned, weekly injections are an option. Hang in there, things will get better eventually - I wish it could be sooner than later... :S We're always here.
