DD has been doing great since her resection in December. Her last Remicade infusion was May 16th and aside from low hemoglobin, labs looked great. Then this morning, my heart sank when she called me at work to tell me her stomach really hurt! I rushed home and she looked awful! I tried to call her GI but waited ten minutes to try to talk to a nurse and finally just hung up and took her to the nearest ER. On the way there, she said the pain was radiating from her back to her stomach. Long story short: she had lots of blood and protein in her urine but no infection. Labs looked great (hemoglobin has even come up a bit). They did a CT scan and she has 3-4 kidney stones!!! One of them is already almost in her bladder so the pain she had was most likely the stone passing through. They also said she has a gall stone! He said that the stones still in her kidneys might not bother her for years and the gall stone may never bother her. I just feel SO defeated. Two kids diagnosed within a year. Two surgeries. Multiple complications (abscesses, fistulas, NG tubes, PICC lines, etc.) Now this!!??

She's drinking lots of fluids and using a strainer when she urinates to try and catch it. We're going to see a urologist in a few days. I'm hoping since it already passed most of the way on its own, she won't need to have it removed. Anyone here have experience with kidney/gall stones?

Grace had 2 kidney stones about 2 years ago.
Just like your girl it was very painful for Grace.
she did a lot of soaking on warm baths.
Heating pads were a big help also.

I have had a couple of bouts of kidney stones over the years, never had to have surgery though. I go for annual checkups to make sure everything is still ok. My urologist told me that with the type of stones we are prone to get (I forget which kind), a good deterrent is to drink REAL lemonade - the acid helps to keep stones at bay. They tend to form when flaring and ill, as we don't normally pee enough due to dehydration from D...so the materials build up in the kidney and stones form.
