HI guys,

Just wondering if anyone takes the Lactase enzyme tablets to counteract a lactose intelorance? And if you do how much success have you had with them?

I CAN'T DO WITHOUT CHOCOLATE ANY LONGER!!!!!!

I haven't tried them, but two of my friends regularly use them. They are all highly lactose intolerant and they tell me they work wonders for small amounts of lactose. Think a big cupa joe with creamer - not like a giant milkshake with extra whipped cream kind of thing.

I used to use them, you may find success, but I only found trouble. :(

The good news is, is that I had a yummy piece of chocolate overload cake on my birthday (The day of the OP's post) and no problems! (I am not suggesting you do this at all, just saying that once you start getting closer to remission, a little chocolate may not kill you)

Thanks for your replies guys, going to use them mainly for when i eat out i think, as a lot of the time it is hard to tell what it is in food without a label!

Sounds delightful! I started Remicade a week ago and feeling great at the mo so decided to treat myself with a much needed bar of chocolate! (I took one of the tablets before hand as well) Seemed to have no problems so just going to have the odd dairy helping here and there I think!

My wife is lactose intolerant and takes lactaid. They are very effective for her. She can eat or drink a great deal of lactose including ice cream or milk without any significant problem. When we discovered lactaid it really made a big difference in her life. She had rather bad reactive hypoglycemia and is vegetarian so there wasn't much left for her to eat with dairy excluded.
