Laxatives right after surgery?

laxatives right after surgery?

My surgeon wants me take laxatives almost immediately after surgery resecting my small and large bowel because there was still some stool in there. Is this safe? Has anyone had to do this??

Hey powerless,

It wasn't done with my kids and I'm not sure that I can remember anyone else doing it almost immediately after surgery.

If the surgeon is suggesting it perhaps it is something he routinely does and has had any issues with. Maybe you could ask the staff??
