Alrighty so for the past two days I've had this dull nagging pain in my left lower abdomine. I'm pretty familiar with the pain as I've dealt with it for a year straight before my diagnosis. It turns out my crohns is the worst along the left side of my colon. Right now I'm on 6mp and lialda and I've been on these for roughly 6 months. Recently I had been uner a lot of stress which threw me into a flare(not really a painful flare, it was urgency, diarreah, and blood/mucous) I don't think I'm clear yet though as I'm still having blood. My question is should I be worried about this pain? What should I do?

My guess is that the pain is related to the blood. You should contact your GI right away and let them know all of your symptoms so you can get any tests that you may need so the doctor can either change your medication/dosage or decide if there's another course of action that needs to be taken. If it were me bleeding and in pain I'd go to the ER because that's a sign of a major flare for me. I don't know what's "normal" for you even though bleeding will never be "normal." It's common but not normal. If you did go to the ER then you could get some tests done right away and get a quicker appointment with your GI. It's something to think about. If the pain is REALLY bad (scale of 1-10 how bad is it?) and things like Tylenol aren't helping then the ER would be able to help with the pain. Pain can be a sign of all sorts of problems and I'm not about to tell you to pop a pill and wait it out. Blood on the other hand is a sign of an open wound (which is usually painful). I'd get that checked out.

Well I sort of was finding it odd, I was on 25 mg of 6mp for a couple of months and I was doing great, then about 4-5 months ago he checked how much had been built up in my system and upped the dosage from 25mg to 50. After about a month or two in I started bleeding again and it hasnt quite corrected itself yet. Also, when he upped my dosage I found myself not as hungry...to the point where I eat maybe one meal a day. Also, stress is a hell of a thing. lol

right now the pain is at about a 4ish, dull and nagging and it entered the picture about 2 days ago, whereas I've been bleeding about 2-3 weeks. I'm a little jaded by hospitals right now considering they dismissed me when I was spewing blood out my anus, but at the same time it may be worth it to take a trip, now that I know I have crohns they may look at me a little better. Thanks Crabby for the advice :)

Does your GI know that you've been bleeding for this long? If so and they've done nothing about it is it possible for you to get another GI that is a little more proactive with your treatment/care?

I havent contacted him yet to let him know, honestly I'm a little slow getting things taken care of. I've been dismissed so much I feel like I should be dieing before getting any treatment. I've been much worse and wasn't given a second glance by doctors. I go in to see him in July so hopefully I can push through till then. Also, I'm on government aided insurance so not many GI doctors accept it. It was between him and the doctor which I had my first colonoscopy with who told me he'd treat me when biopsies came in and then dropped off the face of the earth, never to be heard from again...*sigh* I've had a rough road.

Bleeding for an extended amount of time is serious. I would certainly get in contact with your GI and make an appointment sooner than later.
