Left side chest pain.

Sarah has developed left side only chest pain.

- pain constant
- hurts to cough, sneeze or move
- has had a cough for six weeks
- general unwell
- pain started 8 days ago.
- increased aza to 200mg a week ago.
- standard aza bloods done today.

Any ideas?

How bad was her cough? I had a terrible cough once and pulled a muscle from it. It was no ordinary pulled muscle either, was deeper and felt more like a cracked rib. Also wondering about pneumonia. Has she had a chest X-ray?

I agree with the above that a chest xray sounds like a good idea.

The cough is not bad, just not going away.

What they said, could be something as simple as a hole in the lung ( I know that sounds bad, but it isn't, a lot get them, especially smokers, its something that heals on its own ) I'd get it checked out to be safe.

Chest pain is listed as one of the side effects of aza. If you increase the dose it can be the reason. When we increased the dose for Asacol for my daughter she started having chest pain. It was a very rare side effect in asacol. I do not know if for aza is a common or rare side effect. I hope is nothing serious.

This definitly warrants a call to the doctor. Especially with it occuring after the raised dose. On top of that our kids are at Increased risk of pneumonia. My daughter had it and we were surprised by it as she only had mild symptoms.

Been to the GP. The chest is clear. She has Pleurisy.
