Hi everybody!

I'm newly diagnosed with UC and have been taking lialda for about a week. I take 4 1.2gm pills every morning. During this time I've had an on and off low grade fever (between 99 and 100 Fahrenheit). I'm curious as to whether this is a common side effect or if I should call my Dr about it. I'm having zero gi symptoms. Just the fever. I'd really appreciate any input or personal experiences.

I just looked it up the side effects and it says that fever, sore throat, or other flu symptoms, are less common side effect. So I do think it is pertaining to the drug. Maybe call your doctor and see how you should go about taking care of this

It does list it as a side effect. Are you having any other symptoms that aren't gi related? If so then it could be a virus, if not then it's probably just the medicine. I'd say just keep an eye on it for now and consider tylenol if it goes higher.

Thanks to both you and Ethan for your replies! I'm still new to this and likely to freak out over every little thing. I'm having no other symptoms at all. Just the random fever that hits like a wall and leaves me sweating and short of breath. Going to give it a few more days and call if it persists. I have been using tylenol to try to help bring it down. What works best for me though, is a cold wet washcloth on the back of my neck.
