My doctor said I can start on a liquid diet and he said I can have coffee but didn't specify whether milk was allowed. I don't want to bother him with a million questions do you think it's OK?

Milk is not generally considered part of a liquid diet. Usually we're referring to CLEAR liquids. Milk doesn't qualify.

Personally, I would recommend against coffee. It's a very common Crohn's antagonist. This applies to most decaf coffee as well.

When I was on sips it was no milk but when I went to free fluids I could have milk. I would ask the nurses, they will advise you.

For me drinking coffee and alcohol is like pouring gasoline on a bonfire. No quicker route to diarrhea.

Milk is considered a "full liquid" where I am from and not a clear liquid. There are non-dairy creamers you can try. I have had no problem with dairy products but everyone is different.

Weird think is now post surgery I'm on a special diet I can have some cheese and yogurt but no milk. Like yogurt and cheese are milk!

Every medical professional/dietician I have spoke to about this (which is a lot, I reallylove coffee) has said I small amount of milk. Just be more cautious than you usually would.
