Hey peeps sorry to bother you all:eek2:
And i honestly wasnt sure weather to write this post or not but here goes cos i'm literaaly at the my wits end !!!!
As i,ve mentioned previousy i'm now in the perianal club:smile:
But the last couple of days have been just awful ,
When i had my last operation i was told i'm also the owner of a chronic fissure aswell as fistulas ,
So was just wondering yesterday god this is going to sound awful i had a discharge that i'm nearly sure came from that and the pain is just unbearable after a bathroom trip:(
Just wondered does any1 know if this is normal or does it even get better it's going on months now and i literally have a pain in my ass with it !!!
Honestly unbearable ,
sorry for being crude and thanks so much for any info this forum has been a godsend:hug:
thanks Amy xxx

I had an OP about a two months ago where they put in a "drainage" in the fistula and left a open wound where my abcess was to dry it out. (I was away from work for a month including the Operation)

It was very painful going to the bathroom for a long while after it´s just now starting to get better with the wound healing and such, also humira is helping a bit.

I had pains in the butt for about 9 years before this so im glad something has been done about it, it still hurts a bit after a stool but its ALOT better than before.

Have you discussed having an Operatin with your Dr? I do think its the best way to rid yourself of the problem.

Hey thanks for your reply
I had 3 ops so far including a cutting and drainage seton being put in !!!
thankfully i had the last seton taken out a few months and i think that sorted that problem out !!
I think the pain now is coming from the fissure i have ;-(
So maybe i'm going to be left like this now as they're worried more ops will damage the sphinter muscle xx
just was wondering is there anything at all that would help ??
i'm so glad your finally having relief i wouldnt wish this on any1 xx
thanks for your repy

Amy - are yopu on any meds? The only thing that healed up my fistulas was Remicade.....was a wonder-worker in that respect.....never had any surgeries for them, and the more I read, the worse it seems surgery is for them if you have Crohns.....

Hey i'm curently just on pentasa and probiotics .hoping to start 6mp soon ;-)
I honestly dont feel any different since all the ops apart from the fact that the abcesses have gone so i suppose i should be thankful for that !!
Did remicade help with anal fissures not sure if you have them ???
I'm super glad that your having relief xxx
My doc wants to try 6mp first before we go in with the big guns as they call them lol xx

Yup - I dealt with fissures for years (have the scars!)...then the fistulas appeared....since being on Remicade, no issues with either!

Hi Amy. You could talk to your doctor about nitroglycerin topical ointments, or potentially a hydrocortisone cream. They both have the ability to work on fissures without surgury, and with your history of fistulas, I'd want a doctor taking on the task.

Best wishes.

Sorry to hear you are suffering, hang in there. Sounds pretty dreadful, dont worry about being crude seriously, you weren't.

Good luck with everything

Hi Amy

I so feel your butt pain. I was given a nitroglycerine ointment to use for fissures, but it was very potent. Needed to wear gloves to apply it, and if too much was used I would get a massive headache. It did the trick though.

As for fistulas and abscesses have then all. One dr I had kept stricking a soft drain in during EUA, and I would end up pooping it out within hours of surgery. Was on remicade, but had an anaphylactic reaction after 3 infusion..switched to Humira, but that not help with the peri anal disease. more surgeries on fistulas not an option, as there is too much damage.

I am now out of options, fistula and abscesses have won. On Friday I go in for proctectomy and iliostomy. Apparently the only way together rid of the perianal disease is to remove anus. Hopefully it will fix the problems.

I do hope your bum feels better soon. One of the worst things is that its very difficult to try and have a look at what is going on wit your bum... Just another frustration!

Take care
Janette
