I'm guessing this is common? I've only been dx for a couple of months. Don't get me wrong, I can stand to lose some pounds, but it worries me when its through no effort of my own. On the bright side, maybe it could help out the type 2 diabetes? :) Anyone else experiencing this?

Weight loss is pretty common with crohns, more so when the disease is active. Do you have any other symptoms? What's your diet like?

Valley is correct that weight loss often accompanies this disease. Your doctor needs to be aware because there can be a number of reasons. Malabsorption, lack of appetite sometimes you aren't conscious of the fact that you are avoiding food.

I don't know about diabetes but maybe you can ask our diabetes and crohns support group. http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=49117

My diet is kind of plain, really. I guess like most here, once I got the dx, I really started avoiding a lot of foods. Nothing raw, nothing spicy, no caffeine. I also gave up trying to manage my blood sugar because any diet to manage diabetes isn't really Crohn's friendly (whole grains, fresh veggies, etc).

I'm still new at this so it's hard to define where I am with this. I have some kind of cramping or pain almost every day, it's just not all day anymore with the meds. Since the dx, I only have had one flare, and it was only about two days, and nothing like what I had experienced before. The bad part is that days with no symptoms at all are very, very rare. Even if I'm not in pain, nothing seems to be right in the bathroom. I'm wondering if it ever will again.

I also have several other things happening as well- I was dx hypothyroid in 2005. That's also when the childhood asthma came back (it was gone for a long time). I take meds for both of those, and also take meds for GERD, type 2 Diabetes, high cholesterol (caused by the diabetes meds), and now this. Every day begins and ends with a fistful of pills.
