There are a lot of posts asking what supplements to take so i thought i'd throw this into the mix......
The guy talking is Dr. Joseph Brasco of the Huntsville Center for Colon and Digestive Disease
"Dr. Brasco received his BS degree from Rutgers College in New Jersey. His MD degree was completed in 1986 at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Dr. Brasco completed his residency for Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois, Chicago. His fellowship in Gastroenterology was also completed at the University of Illinois in 1991." - so he's qualified, and not a quack
i recommend that you start at 6:00 minutes on part 3 because the chemist who starts on part one and two is hard to hear (worth it if you can be bothered concentrating) and Dr. Brasco recaps everything and explains why they are beneficial

I've personally not had much luck taking probiotics sold in stores. They either didn't seem to have an effect, or made me feel slightly bloated. Often wonder if I'm not taking the right kind for me, or maybe not taking them long enough. Figure going forward i'll try buying fermented foods such as sauerkraut, and eventually look into making my own fermented vegetable mixes. I picked up a book recently, written by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride on how to do that.

Rather unintentionally got into the food fermentation SCD idea last week! My sinks garbage disposal system broke. Had an unpleasant fermented food odor coming from the kitchen. Have a former retired University of Illinois handyman coming tomorrow to look over my new waste disposal unit.

Beach. I'm sure you probably have, but I thought, "it doesn't hurt to ask". Have you tried Culturelle Digestive Health probiotic? I've been using it for a while now and it works great for me!

Starscream613 - I don't believe I've tried Cultuerelle probiotics before. At least the box didn't look familiar when I looked it up online. I've tried different ones over the years, and I suppose there might be one probiotic item that helped with the gut. It was a yogurt sold with live probiotics in, according to the label. I never was for sure though if it was the yogurt/dairy helping, or the probiotics. Dairy can have a constipating effect. According to the video, the doctor mentioned that yogurt probiotics likely do not help much as yogurt tends to poorly populate the digestive tract.

I've seen others that eat the SCD diet having luck with a simple acidophilus probiotic. My thinking is to see if a local store sells something like this and adding that to my diet in the near future. As mentioned earlier, am also thinking of fermenting some vegetables and seeing what that does for me.

That is wonderful that the Culturelle probiotic has worked very well for you! Probiotics seems to be hit or miss with many of us with IBD conditions I've noticed. Some work great, giving relief, and others the probiotics do not help, sometimes making the condition worse.

vsl probiotic is an unreliable and arrogant company.

i used 2 of there sachets, no issues, then i bought 2 bottles of pill capsule version, serious bad effects, called the company for a refund, they couldnt care less.

skip this company entirely!!
