Just wondering if anyone has experienced Azathioprine lowering their RBC? I just got my last week's blood draw results from my general practitioner. My RBC has been going down steadily since October, finally listed as "low" at the end of May and last week. Have been on iron tablets and folic acid, iron and folate are good on these results, not sure those two were ever low. But the RBC is still going down, and my MCV and MCH are high. Wondered if anyone else had encountered this and what might cause it.

Low RBC has to do with anemia, when the MCV and MCH are high that means that the RBCs are trying to compensate for the low blood count. Imuran affects the the immune system by suppressing the WBCs, so it could just be the Imuran affecting the blood count. All the same it's strange that your iron is good but the blood count is low. I would look into that further. Wish I could be of more help, maybe someone will have a better answer for you.
