I was diagnosed about 2 years ago when I was 22. I lived away from home for college and was not able to see a GI doctor other than for my initial colonoscopy and diagnosis. I was placed on prednisone and pentasa, and felt that they never helped my symptoms, but I learned to "live with it."
Fast forward to this fall and my symptoms got much worse. I wound up going to the ER with an "almost" bowel obstruction and sent home with pain and nausea meds.
I have a pretty great doctor now, but we're still figuring out how to get my symptoms under control. Humira was working well for a couple months, but now seems to be wearing off too soon between dosages.
My mom also has crohn's but has had very different experiences. Sometimes it gets hard to cope with all the stress and "not feeling good". I worry that I won't be able to work in my field of choice when I graduate if my health keeps going downhill.
I am so glad I've found this forum and this community. Thanks to you all for your advice, info, and personal experiences. It's more of a help than you know.
