Hi,
My bf has been very sick with tons of pain, nausea and vomiting. Are there any meds he can take to help and stop all this? If so, what works best? Any feedback will be appreciated.

Along with frequent diaherria, is feeling so nauseous and vomiting common with crohn's disese? Before just a few days ago my bf would throw up sometimes 2 to 3 times during the week. Now it is much worse.

When he has days of feeling so sick, he will make himself throw up. He says he feels a little better after but I am very worried and scared about this. Can this cause harm? Like it can when people have an eating disorder?

What sort of food causes more problems? My bf says that no matter what he eats, he still doesn't feel well, so he gives up trying. Are there any good cookbooks out there with yummy recipies that are helpful for people with Crohn's ?

What exactly is an obstruction and narrowing? Can it be prevented? If so how?

Sorry for all the ?s I hope no one minds. Thankx in advance to everyone who answers.

Take care and thanks for all the support,

Brooke

sounds like he's gettin pretty damn ill now. you should really be consulting a doctor at this stage and refusing to leave untill you get answers you really need.

getting to the point where he doesnt want to eat is a bad sign, around that time is where alot of us have been admitted to hospital.

also, when it gets to that point, no food is really going to help. if he has cronic diaherria and not eating, then he's probably getting quite dehydrated.

get to a doctor if you think he's that bad, cause if he is then its not time to mess around on a forum.

(i dont mean to sound harsh or only look at the negatives in this post, but he does not sound well brooke.)

Brooke,
I would take him to an ER NOW. Vomiting is not a good sign. Neither is the complete loss of appetite. You don't need to frighten him but as Jed said, most of us have been to the hospital at the point he's at right now. If he is developing an obstruction it needs medical intervention, end of story. It can KILL him. Again I'm not trying to be an alarmist but explain to him its no time to try and be a tough guy. If he doesn't like waiting, like any of us do, make sure to let the admitting nurse understand whats going on and that he has crohn's. I've found it causes the ER folks to fast track you.

p.s. there are tons of meds out there. its a horrible juggling act for most of us trying to get the ones we like, but we do get there

there are also herbal remedies, and there is a post somewhere about crystal healing somewhere around here if your into that.

most people keep away from high fibre foods (no good for our bellies, need low fibre so it slips thru easyly)

try get him to drink sustagen milk drinks, or power/gatorade type drinks.
