Hi guys

Quickly introduce my-self, I'm Tommy.

19 Months ago I was undiagnosed and I had a perforation in my colon. 8 months ago I had my ileostomy reversed and I am now in a very good place heath wise, in comparison to before all of this kicked off.

So here it goes, basically I want to go smoke some weed with a friend for this first time. I have some PTSD you could say, anxiety/trouble sleeping. This is not an excuse for me to smoke, I'm going to smoke it for the fun of it, but It may even have an indirect benefit for my health in terms of anxiety and Crohn's..

Quetsion2: I have done a large amount of research, mainly medical journals that conflict, however, they do come to the conclusion that MJ is safe and effective in treating Crohn's, to a certain extent. I don't believe its going to put you in remission but it may help with nausea/pain etc.

From this I said to myself I WAS going to smoke at the weekend. However I was just wondering if anyone has ALSO smoked while on "Azathioprine or Imuran/ Pentasa" or any meds as a matter of fact.

Also can I add, there is a ton of data about the danger of smoke and disease activity/stricture reoccurrence. Not sure if this is due to cigarette smoke or what, but obviously everything you smoke produces CO and that itself reduces blood flow to the bowel. Any opinions? Thanks

Thanks in advance.

Hey there bud,

I use marijuana extensively (everyday). I use it for multiple reasons, basically for what you have listed. I use it to help me sleep at night and get a full night of sleep. It also seemed to help me a lot with nausea before I was medicated for my Crohn's disease. From what my doctor told me, cigarette smoke is a huge no no when you have Crohn's, but marijuana smoke is different. Cigarette smoke can increase inflammation and cause strictures to worsen, however I have never experienced that with marijuana. Before I was taking additional medications, my nausea would go away almost immediately after smoking marijuana. I still use it and have used it while on the following medications without noticing any side effects:
Humira, Mercaptapurine and Stelara.

Hope this helps.
