Hi guys,
My four year old has been on the injection form of MDX now about 7 months, it has done wonders! We are in remission but in the last month of doses he's been running high fever and having episodes of vomiting. He's never exhibited these symptoms till now, and I've always heard symptoms get better with use of the drug. Anyone in a similar situation, just curious... thanks prayers to all!

We take mtx too, now almost a year. No issues like you describe for us. Have you seen the GP on it? Could the symptoms be unrelated? I'm sure if someone else has experienced it they will post soon.

Grace has been on mtx for four months and I'm just noticing thinning hair.
Of course she's on other drugs but I'm surprised it's taking this long to show up.
Be sure to notify your GI about any new symptoms.
Unfortunately these drugs can lose effectiveness and either have to be bumped up in dose or changed to something else. You want to make sure he doesn't get worse before doing this.

Hugs

FW, the thinning of hair was from mtx? D didn't have that happen until a couple months on Humira so we just figured it was that. Never thought about it being the mtx but certainly could have been. D's hair fell out in clumps. Had no choice but to cut it short so it thickens up in the next hair cycle. She always had such thick hair we used to have to thin her hair at the hairdresser

Has he had his liver panels ran during these episodes of vomiting and high fever? What does the GI have to say about these issues? I would definitely get the GIs opinion and have liver panels ran. What test showed he was in remission? I hope you are able to find some answers quickly.

I don't know which drug is the culprit (Humira, mtx or pred) but I thought we were out of the woods when it came to possible side effects but I was wrong.

This happened to my daughter - she had no side effects from mtx for 5 months and then started getting nauseous and dizzy and eventually throwing up during the fifth month. We tried mtx two separate times (a couple years apart) and each time it took exactly 5 months for her to have side effects. Our GI had some long complicated explanation for this involving some compound but I can't remember what it was. Both times we had to discontinue mtx.

SupportiveMom - we were warned about hair loss with mtx so it definitely could be culprit. M lost some hair but not enough for it to be noticeable.
