I've read some interesting medical facts. I know the one pertaining to IBD was mentioned in another post as well.

There are a lot of IBD sufferers who are left-handed.

People with type O blood are more likely to develop stomach ulcers.

People with type A blood are more likely to develop stomach cancer than the other blood types.

Redheads are difficult to numb during dental procedures. Probably difficult to numb during other procedures as well.

More redheaded women suffer from endometriosis than women with other hair colors.

Any truth? Any other generalizations that have medical backing?

I am a brunette with lots of natural red in my hair and I have been very hard to anesthetize before, both at the dentist and when I had a toenail removed.

Sarah and Matt are right handed

Don't know about that one.

:eek2: I'm A blood group. Thanks for that Andi! :ylol:

I'm a redhead and I haven't noticed any difficulties with anaesthetics/pain relief, but I have heard that before.

I don't have endometriosis. I know when I gave birth they would hover because they reckoned redheads have a high risk of haemorrhaging, I never did.

Dusty. :)

I think someone did a poll on left and right handedness.

I am brunette and I have endometriosis.

I'm a brunette and had endometriosis

I had a tooth out yesterday and it was traumatic! Dentist had to inject 3 times!
The palette of my mouth swelled up so much I threw up, I thought I was choking.
Stayed off work today, I look like I'm storing nuts!

Can't remember what my blood group is, and I'm ambidextrous!

Right-handed with UC.
Type B blood.
Blonde turning red as I get older. (Instead of gray, I'm turning ginger!)
Have had severe endometriosis that ended with TH/BSO.
No anesthesia difficulties ever.

Interesting data there, Andi. :)

I am also amibidexterous. The other Crohnies that I know locally are right-handed. The redhead and local anesthetics is all over the internet and the American Dental Association is propagating that one too. You have to wonder who they are polling or what they are going by.

Joan, I hope your mouth is feeling better. I have to get some work done on April 6th. Not looking forward to it.

Hi Andi

I'm a bit better, but still distressed! Gawd, it hurts like mad! More so to swallow like I've got a severe sore throat? it's weird.
I've been gargling with salt water all day which makes me gag!
Don't know why I'm moaning, but I am. Joan the Moan!
Good luck Andi with your treatment
xxxx

right handed- IBD
blood type- O
and i do have little ulcers in my small intesting that attaches to the large

Hope your mouth feels better Joan. Salt water makes me gag too... blah.....

2thFairy, what does this mean?? "Have had severe endometriosis that ended with TH/BSO." (total hysterectomy and...?)

oh... I am primarily right handed but also ambidextrous... (have to be to be an artist :D)

What I mean is that I no longer have endometriosis since having all my parts ripped out, though nearly 20 years later doctors are still checking me for signs of more endo.

TH/BSO--total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (ovaries and tubes revmoved)

oh, okay ...thanks :) HAHA...my friend had a total hysterectomy and her family doctor keeps mentioning how he cant find her cervix when doing a pap test..haha.....and then it dawns on him...

Oh wow! My hair is turning redder as I get older too!! The women in my family do not turn gray until they are in their late 70's. I think I look weird with wrinkles and no gray hair - I've even considered having it colored gray.

Left handed. No endometriosis. Type O blood, no ulcers. I am an aquarius, and I read somewhere that we most often have intestinal troubles.

That's interesting!

I'm naturally blonde and numbing/pain meds etc. do nothing for me. I have a phenomenal dentist who numbs me with a shot every 20 minutes or so - otherwise I can feel everything. It just doesn't stay in my system...then again what does!!! :)
