Sticky Medical Marijuana for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis

Hello guy's,

I'm planning to grow up marijuana but i definitively don't know which variety used...
It's for make oil as caps and in order to vape too.

Please help me....which variety use ?

Thanks :)

Personally, I've obtained 3 types of plants: high THC/low CBD, high CBD/low THC, and one variety with about a 1:1 ratio so I will be able to make all three types of oil and use them as needed. The specific strains don't matter much unless you have favorites; it's what's in them.

OK, thanks :)

For the moment....it's too late for outdoor....I should be buy weed and made my oil...

Do you know which amount of weed is needed to make oil for one month (approximatively) ?

Thanks :)

It totally depends on your recipe, the strength of the material you're using, and the dosage you want. If you can get lab-tested bud (do they have that in France?), then you can know how much THC and CBD is in it and start your calculations there. If not, you'll have to make your best guess based on strain averages. You can find some typical ranges for many strains on leafy.com.

Is anyone using THCa to manage their Crohn's? I'm seeing that it's showing promise as an anti-inflammatory and immunomodulator.

I would like to know how goto in remission with marijuana ( i think thc oil is the best).

Next, in remission, how take to maintenance. Thc too ? Or just cbd?

Thca is not present in the leaves ? Maybe made an oil based on the leaves...

See posts from Colty'nsfamily on 5/11 & 5/12 for the advice they gave me. Also said to couch lock for a couple of weeks and then back off slowly.

Hi Guys I am considering the idea of trying cannabis for both my crohns and mild crohns arthritis. There is a semi-private cannabis clinic in my town with legal doctors who can prescribe it. They will evaluate my file but according to the secretary, I'd be accepted without a doubt. Im very interested but I am scared of psychoactive substance that will play with my brains. I dont want to be stoned and worst I dont want to feel ''hooked'' on it and have trouble getting rid of it if I want to stop this treatment.. I am a person with good positive energy most of the time and I'd be affraid to mess with that. I also have a family history of psychiatric disorders and am also affraid of any brain or neurologic interaction that could trigger something in me, considering I may have genetic susceptibility or predisposition to such trouble.... any thougths? thx!

The only link I've seen to mental illness has to do with schizophrenia. Although there are some indications it may trigger the onset, making it appear earlier than it otherwise would, current research indicates marijuana is not a cause. http://psychcentral.com/news/2013/12/10/harvard-marijuana-doesnt-cause-schizophrenia/63148.html

I believe you need some activated THC to effectively treat Crohns, and this was a challenge in treating my 11-year-old as well. I mostly give him any activated THC in the evening, although I did "couch lock" him for 2 weeks, keeping him home from school, to kick the healing into high gear. He is doing very well now, and I'm giving him very little activated THC so he never appears stoned at this point. I'm mostly using THCA, CBD, CBDA, and other supplements. Marijuana is not addictive, so any "hooked" feeling would just be you liking how you feel when you use it. Hope that is helpful

Hi J's Mom and thank you.

I went to the clinic today and handed in my medical resume, I shall have an appointment with one of the 6 doctors who work there. The head director is the one who reviews all patient's resumes and has long term experience with cannabis use (over 30 years). I'll ask to have the appointment with him. Im pretty excited about exploring this avenue.
Is your boy soly treated with cannabis? does he take other drugs? what the GI thinks of this and does your boy have fallow up monitoring with GI? thank's again!

I found out that for me the most effective treatment with inflammation flares is basically shooting the medicine up in the colon in liquid form.

So I took the Asacol Rectal Suspension bottle and ditched the content, cleaned it and filled it with warm water and cannabis extracted in coconutoil.

Used it before bed time, after last stool. Calmed the bowel movement drastically so the nightly stools stopped and I got better sleep. Don't know exactly how speedy it healed the inflammation but when I took the tests after three weeks the inflammation was gone.

interesting! how many nights did you make the enemas? did you tell this story to your GI? do you still do it on occassions to maintain remission?

My son used to be on azathioprine, but his GI specialist pulled it when his liver tests started coming back showing unsafe levels. She does not appear to believe in any natural remedies (she told me my work with our naturopath was "belief-based") and really wants us to put him on Remicade, despite the fact that he is eating well and his inflammation is down. Our naturopath is a little baffled by this, as am I, since Remicade is a known carcinogen and something I certainly wouldn't subject my son to unless it seemed truly necessary. We are still seeing her for now, but I will only be able to continue with her over the long term if she stops pushing dangerous drugs when my kid is already doing better without them. He is still on sulfasalazine, which I hope to be able to taper off soon to put him at zero pharmaceuticals. We are also using slippery elm capsules, probiotics, and fish oil to help calm and heal his gut.

Has been a miracle for me. Have major problems with several of the meds prescribed (6mp, azothiopurinine, prednisone) It allows me to sleep, eat, and lead a somewhat normal life - something I hadn't had for years prior to MJ.

Hi there, I had some of the same worries before I tried cannabis to control my Crohn's, as my mother's side of the family has history of mental issues. However, I was pleasantly surprised with how effective it was at controlling my disease and helping me maintain remission. It's been about a year now and I don't think I have had any psychological effects and the worst side effect I've encountered thus far is slight short term memory loss. It's not bad but it can get bothersome sometimes. Anyways, it's different for everyone and if it is available legally in your area, I'd suggest giving it a shot in a comfortable and safe environment. Best of luck!

The better the product the better the oil will be. I would choose a nice hybrid breed like White Widow or something similar to make oil from. I am hoping to grow my own too but having trouble finding seeds. I live in KS though might just have to drive to colorado and buy a seedling or something.

maybe its been posted before but here's a guideline :
http://www.projectcbd.org/medicine-2/dosage/

it does seem indeed that THC is inevitable. I cant wait to discuss all of that with the doctor. The benefit from THC could also be help in reducing anxiety? I have a tendency to be a bit nervous/anxious (for no reason) at all time compared to average people. Its part of my personality and runs in my family. Maybe this could help me in that regards?

Thanks for the link. Yes, cannabis is well-known for reducing anxiety. Just be careful about balancing your activated THC with CBD, which seems to mellow the psychoactivity and reduce any unwanted effects of a high THC dose.

These info sources are pretty good, but always take them with a grain of salt, since research is very far behind after nearly 80 years of prohibition.

Has anyone tried to control their Crohn's disease with ONLY medical marijuana?

Not ONLY, but we're now trying MMJ in addition to other natural meds. Just got off the last of the pharmaceuticals (sulfasalazine) and just on THC, THCA, and CBD plus several other supplements. So far, so good.

My 2 cents: I have used Marijuana daily for a long time now -- I believe that it has helped me tremendously during times of great pain because of my Crohn's.

Of course my comment will be viewed as bias because I'm obviously 'pro' legalization, but from personal experience it has helped me more than many other chemical pharmaceuticals they've given me.

There is a huge stigma attached to Marijuana, and I do think if you misuse it that it could hurt you, but in terms of what it can do for people who are suffering it should be allowed to help.

Yes I was prescribed entocort but because it is so pricey and dangerous I decided to see how I would react with only medical marijuana and completely avoiding processed foods.

please keep in touch with your GI whether or not you take the entocort. let them know of your choices so that you have proper fallow up and that things do not escalate into more complicated situations. If you take cannabis, its no guaranteed it will make the inflammation go away, but your symptoms will prolly find some relieve and it will be hard to know if its the nervous system relaxing or the inflammatory response, so monitor with GI. Stopping processed food will probably wont be enough as an adjunct therapy treatment. Read about the SCD diet or the IBD-AID in the forum if you want to give yourself a better chance with ''natural approaches''.

Thank you! I will definitely look into both right now I am completely Paleo except for when I give in and have iced coffee with creamer. I am a bit nervous to tell my GI after the lab results from the biopsy sample came back (which is when I was diagnosed) he said he found drug exposure. He didn't seem very happy it was awkward how can I make it so that he thinks I am not just doing this for the cannabis

Unfortunately some drs. won't believe that cannabis works. I don't understand it either but some drs. seem to get their degree and think that no new information is out there unless it comes from pharma companies.
Some papers may help.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2679124/
This one is on epithelial wound healing with cannabis.
http://www.truthonpot.com/2013/05/20/medical-marijuana-and-inflammatory-bowel-disease/
This one is more specific to Crohn's and UC.
Let me know and I can look up the papers on the antiinflammatory action of CBD and there are a few others.
Best to find a dr. who believes in you caring for yourself. I hardly see my dr at all anymore. He's quite happy I'm doing well without him having to do the work.

paleo diet is very similar to SCD and IBD-AID, any of these will be great to try I think. Key is to be very strict and not cheat and then monitor with GI.

how did your dr found drug exposure? I though is was only on demand on blood reports. I dont see the utility of a doctor to check that box in the blood reports, this seems like very intrusive of personal life to me. I'd be pretty upset my doctor wants to check that without asking me first. hospital is not a prison!

anyhow, thanks to poster above, literature does exist supporting cannabis use for crohns and you can bring this to your doctor.

you could inform yourself of your rights on this issue at the hospital Ombudsman if this matters to you. and if you are not comfortable with this doctor you could change him. I find its so important to get along with doctors. The ''therapeutic alliance'' can play a part in disease course. and a doctor who has a positive attitude can even set possibilities for some sort of placebo effect for the patient. we are going to see these doctors for many years ahead so its good to have a good one.
i once had a terrible rhuematologist and I changed dr, my only regret is not having changed her earlier. she was stressing me so much I even had nightmares!!! :ack:

Hello! I'm posting here because I live in a legal state, am newly diagnosed with a mild case, and am interested in seeing what seems to be working/not working for other folks.

I have just begun trying non-psychoactive CBD capsules (Mt. Si Medicinals, 25:<1 CBD/THC ratio), but it's too early to draw any conclusions.

It seems that activated THC is necessary for really effective Crohn's treatment with cannabis. If the CBD works for you, that's great, but I'd get some oil with a significant amount of activated THC in it in case of flares, at least. If you're a novice user, I'd start with just 5-10 mg at a time to get the feel for it. Keep in mind that CBD taken with the THC can help to mitigate any undesirable effects (anxiety, paranoia) that you might experience with THC alone or with too high a dose. You may find that you need to keep up the THC daily for at least a couple of weeks to combat a flare -- at least that seemed to have worked for us when I got the same advice.

thank you J's Mom for being this valuable source of information. I have my appointment next thursday at the medical cannabis clinic! what is great is that I would be able to start very gradually since I am in remission right now. And my barometer will be my mild arthritis which has never went into remission since it started 3 years ago, but it improuved greatly at least.

Has anybody had any experience with Cheeba Chews non-psychoactive CBD chews? I bought some a while back and there was absolutely no high, which is exactly what I want. I also tried some of the Cheeba Chews CBD / THC mixture, but it seems any trace amounts of THC make my anxiety shoot through the roof.

I only bought 2 of the CBD versions and couldn't finish the CBD/THC mix, so I wasn't able to test for long term use....but I was curious if anyone has had experience with these. I know THC has some beneficial properties for crohn's, but I just can't handle the anxiety so these CBD ones are really probably the only form of cannabis I can go with.

I'd make my own as you can't be sure of mgs. or whether it has been decarbed. The antianxiety effects only come with CBD that has had the carboxyl group evaporated off so that it can cross the blood brain barrier. I had some dispensary bought CBD caps that didn't work for anxiety at all.

hi guys, so I am back from the clinic. The doctor I met suggested I make a test first with pharmacy prescription drug Nabilone. (all paid by my insurance).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nabilone

Nabilone mimics THC. She wants to see if I am having side effects from THC and if I see benefits taking it. Im starting at minimal dose (0.25 mg) before going to bed and escalate the dose to 0.50mg the fallowing week if no undesired side effect is noted. I meet her back in 1 month and we'll go from there. if i like it and see benefits, i can continue on this treatment or If I react badly to it, we'll most likely try leafy CBD option. although she mentionned there is always some ''traces'' of THC remaining even in extracted CBD.

what do you think of this plan?

I also had an apt today met with the marijuana doctor and got a referral for medical marihuana. I think your plan is a good one the doctor today said that full extract cannabis oil is the best for healing any ulceration or damage in the intestines as it attaches to our receptors easiest/

You may want to read this first.

http://www.alternet.org/drugs/why-need-whole-plant-medical-marijuana-even-cbd

That and the way that the terpenes interplay with the THC present and the CBD enhances the benefits.

I'd also read up on synthetic THC mimics. I remember reading somewhere that strait THC without terpenes may make for worse side effects. I can't remember where I read that though or if it pertained to the specific drug you are recommended.

thx, just read the report above. I tend to believe whats in this report and that the real plant is superior. i didnt know there were CBD pills? they seem not available in Canada. MY CD is currently in remission, but my arthritis is still present and this will be easy to monitor and to know if the THC pills work or not for my inflammation.
The dr talked about cost also and the advantage of free pills vs having to pay $$$ for the real deal... she did mention that in my case 1 gram of cannabis would be needed per day if inhaled or vaporised or 5 g if turned into oil, which was my first intended choice. Im not quite sure I got that properly.

How much do you all consume per day?

My 11-year old currently gets approx 5-7mg THC & 10 mg CBD per day. In the oil we get, that's only 1/2-2/3 dropperful of the THC daily, but products vary widely in potency.

I'm not sure why ppl try so hard to steer away from thc...I find high thc levels combined with cbd actually help me the most. Taking away thc is taking away the best part of the medicine...

I'm so thankful to live in a state where it's allowed. My son is completely off pharmaceuticals now and is doing SO MUCH BETTER! If you have the means, especially if your child is struggling, it's worth considering relocation for this.

Believe me, I would move if I could!!!!! It's so frustrating! The bill didn't pass in November even though it had the majority vote! It had to have 60% in favor to pass!!! UGH!

You live in a tough state, and I wish you the best of luck. I really hope the rest of the country recognizes sooner rather than later what a terrible mistake it is to withhold this medicine from patients -- ESPECIALLY kids! It's just plain ignorance.

If you have any family in Georgia, it might be easier to just move up one state since GA recently passed HB1. If you have one of the qualifying conditions, you can see a doctor who will register you in the new "Low THC oil registry" in which you basically get a medical marijuana card. The card allows the person who carries it to be in possession of no more than 20 fluid ounces of medical marijuana oil without being prosecuted. Sadly, you cannot buy the stuff in GA yet, but REP. Allan Peake is working to change that right now

If you order thru the flowering HOPE foundation they can ship it to Georgia. It will be a Low THC but that will not help with IBD completely. You have to have THC. You're not going to have access in Florida for a long while. We're working on it tho!!
Try to get as many mg in your child as you can. We suggest at least 40 mg of CBD and if they can take 40mg of THC that would be optimal but it will make them tired. So having a little less THC will be ok but a 1:1 ratio is best. Also take the Fructose out of your childs diet. ALL OF IT!! Its not easy! and there are a lot of fruits that contain Fructose, like apples and watermelon. Don't let them eat it. Its aggravates IBD significantly! ~~ But this doesnt just work for kids! It works for adults also!

I am in the process of moving for MMJ. Colorado Springs is on the short list.

What should I think about when relocating for MMJ?
I have the luxury of really being able to choose anywhere stateside. My core focus is getting better in a healthy wholistic way.

Are there any "Crohns communities" or areas in which we tend to migrate to or that have core support infrastructures in this area?

Hi everyone!

I have been on remicade since April of 2014 and in Jan. had to go up to 10mg/kg every 5 weeks! Recently I haven't been feeling like the medication has been working and I just got the infusion 2.5 weeks ago and I'm going to the bathroom a lot and can't leave the house!! I feel like Remi isn't working anymore. My doc mentioned going vegan, and I have but I cheat and have chicken sometimes and cheese. It's helped a but but nothing major. Since I have 16 days until I see my doctor he said to take prednisone again (last time I gained 32lbs on it!!) so I'm trying to stay away from it would MM help me get through the next 2.5 weeks until my next remi infusion and (then talk to the doc about Humira) .
I am at my wits end with this disease my crohns when first diagnosed was severe and I havnt been in remission at all and half my colon is healed and the latter half is still severely inflamed. Any suggestions on how much MM I should smoke or.. Idk any tips would help! I don't know what to do at this point!
Thank you!

From what I understand, as long as you get something with good decent amount of CBD in you, it should help you out tremendously.

Smoking isn't the most effective way of medicating, although you'll likely get some benefit. THC is also a very important component; a balance of THC & CBD is ideal. If you're able to get edibles, an oil, or a tincture, you would probably get better results. Florida is not a kind state to be in for this. If you were somewhere with dispensaries, you would have a wide array of products to choose from and be able to experiment with what works best for you. Considering the dire state of your illness, I would seriously consider relocating to get real care if that is at all possible. If not, you'll want to find a good, steady source and look at ways you can prepare it at home (infused oil, edibles, tinctures). I recently found this product online, which looks like it could make this pretty easy. I have no affiliation with this company:http://store.magicalbutter.com/magicalbutter.html

For those who only use CBD oil, how many drops a day do you take? What price to you approximately pay for your bottle and qt in it? I'd like to try to order that from outside of canada. because in canada it seems that oil is illegal :ybatty:

Ok so I have just called the clinic and Oil form of CBD will be legal and available in Canada within the next 60 days!!! I think Im going to wait to try that instead of trying the THC pharma pills the dr proposed to me, which I stil havent tried btw. The synthetic drug doesnt really appeal to me, nor the THC...

so gain my question is... How many drops of CBD do you take and what is the expected price?

I take between 15-50mg of CBD a day. the problem with a cbd(and synthetic THC) only concoction is that it's been shown that whole plant extracts are much more effective. CBD only has a very small window of effectiveness whereas the terpenes and flavinoids present in the plant moderate the CBD and THC to make it much more effective over a very wide range of dosages.
If you don't want the THC to affect your mental state you can use freshly dried flowers and no heat extract method to keep the THC in it's acidic form. In this form it won't cross the blood brain barrier and you'll only get the antibiotic and antiinflamatory(and other non mental medicinal effects) properties. It's your choice, you know you better than me. But I'd like to say that, on a oral regimen, people generally get used to the mental effects, esp when taking 50/50 activated(decarbed)THC/CBD. The CBD, when decarbed, acts as an antianxiety medication. If you do try THC add it in after you have been taking activated(decarbed) CBD for a while and you SHOULD have no problems at all with anxiety. I only say this because anxiety was a key to keeping my stomach problems around. I was always on THC but when I added CBD I got full effects from the meds whereas THC only would take care of any pain but not an underlying cause when I used too much(enough) to cure any pain.

I have been using an ethanol-based tincture containing 195 mg of THC and 360 mg of CBD. 1 ml dose contains 13 mg THC and 24 mg CBD, it is a 157mm bottle, cost $55 dollars US, lasts roughly 2 weeks.

Thank you both for your replies.

@ Norby: ''If you don't want the THC to affect your mental state you can use freshly dried flowers and no heat extract method to keep the THC in it's acidic form.''

this seems a lot of work to do. At this point, I am looking at already prepared products which i can buy. I already take so much time to keep a strict diet and managing my supplement intakes throughout the day, I cant imagine concocting other stuff at this moment!!!

would such a product be available in oil form you think? or its a DIY at home only? im looking for minimal work to do with this project...

Quebec, I don't know. In michigan you can have a caregiver make it that way. I think that one lab down here does co2 extract and i don't think that method involves heat.
As long as the process doesn't involve heat over 225f it shouldn't be decarbed. I use isopropyl alcohol to extract my oil and heat to 140 until the alcohol boils off. When the big bubbles stop at 170'sf and the little bubbles start at over 200 is when the decarbing begins. Isopropyl boils at 170f so when you get it about 180 and it isn't bubbling anymore I consider it done for smoking or I heat it to 200+ and watch till the little bubbles taper off.
Some methods use butane and no heat as butane evaporates quick at room temps, oil made from this would be not decarbed at all.
It depends on what method was used and the amount of heat applied as oils can be either decarbed or not. I'd imagine ones intended for consumption would be activated whereas most regular oils would not be decarbed because it would cost more and be an added step. I really couldn't say unless I knew the method.

does anyone who take CBD oil or THC/CBD oil have dry mouth as side effect?

I tried smoke cannabis 2 nights with a friend, just 3-4 puffs and the next mornings I woke up with very dry throat. This is something impossible for me to accept since I suffer from chronic pharyngitis and dryness is a factor aggravating my condition :(

I read THC synthetic medical pills Nabilone also have mouth dryness as possible side effects... Is this a side effect of THC only?

what about CBD?

Check out .leafly.com it won't let me post a link, but it has medical, and uc. And crohns listed and the best strains:dusty:

Hi guys after many horrible meds and painful nights and oping pain pills one after another I decided to give MJ a chance I can't tell you how much better I feel I sometimes get the anxiety that I'm doing something wrong and I need to retrain my brain that I'm not it's crazy how I would think that pain pills are OK but MJ is not. We just got it approved in Oregon so I got to go to my first dispensary yesterday and it was amazing they picked out a string on it that was perfect for me.

Hello,

I use an e-cig with an e-liquid dosed at 13.6% CBD, but i don't see any effects on crohn...Maybe better to ingest cbd oil as caps...

Yes, better to get it to where it's needed. Bet you didn't have bronchitis though. :) Also best to add in some THC.

Parched mouth has long been a symptom of Cannabis users. Hence slurpie runs.
Ice cream or freezies also work great. I also stock up on the natural frozen lime juice.

I still wonder if taking CBD (oil) only will cause throat dryness. Im waiting for an appointment with my cannabis doctor to inquire more about that and possibly try that.

medical Oil has just been legalized for commercialization in Canada. I'd definitely want to go this route and avoid smoking.

I take 2 cookies each night with dinner. Cost: free :)

Parched mouth: Cannabis has a way of alerting us to what we lack. Dehydration is a common problem with much of the population, not only crohn's sufferers. I haven't had parched mouth since increasing my overall general fluid intake, especially vegetable juices and stock. Parched mouth could be related to minerals and not only water?

thx Nym. Interesting, but my throat issue is immune related. So there is more to it than dehydration. I have greatly increased my water consumption since I am having this issue. Hydration is key to minimize symptoms and discomfort. I have a water bottle glued to me at all time :(
Color of urine is a good indicator of hydration status. The clearer it is, the more hydrated we are. Im keeping pretty good.

im just hoping CBD taken alone without THC would not indicate to me that my throat is dry in the morning!

any other experience or anyone else can share thoughts on CBD and throat dryness?

Cookies I cant eat because I fallow a pretty strict diet.

I'm using urine therapy to treat chronic renal failure - renal hypertension / thyroid - all thanks to mesasalazine. It hasn't hurt anything according to all my blood tests thus far.

You can put cannabis in any dietary treat you like.

My mouth would feel parched as soon as the THC effects were felt, this is how I knew to increase my fluid intake. Personally I wouldn't bother with all the CBD vs THC, that is unless you have a strong aversion to wanting any THC effects. I have tried several strains from various growers and the outcome is always the same - positive.

Try the SCD almond flour cookies made with honey just sub canna oil for the butter
You can also just add the butter to your food like on grilled fish or veggies.
THC has benefits for crohns and inflammation as well
The Israeli studies focused On THC.

thx guys. i would really prefer to use CBD only and avoid the side effects of THC. I like the buzz of THC, but that would be for occasions only, never on a regular basis. If I can get to try it, I will know pretty fast if only CBD can help fight inflammation or not since I have mild arthritis and pharyngitis. Those issues are far easier to monitor than crohn's. My crohn's is doing so well since a year now and I want to try cannabis for the other issues now.

You can always use fresh non decarbed THC and not get much of a high. The THC won't cross the blood brain barrier easily if it's not decarbed but you still get all the health benefits throughout the rest of the body.

It's just fresh MJ infused into oil or alcohol without heat. Heating MJ decarboxylizes the THC acid turning it into THC which can pass the blood brain barrier. Without heating it, it remains THC acid, which has a tough time getting across the blood brain barrier to get you high. It does however travel throughout the rest of the body and works it's magic without the head effect.

and how is this kind consumed? Is this easily accessible? Ive never heard of this kind and wonder if it is available legally in Canada.

It would be the raw, fresh plant. You can juice it from what I hear and has great benefits. Unfortunatley in Canada, unless you are allowed to grow for yourself, or know someone who does, you can't get your hands on fresh plant legally :(

Funny, I had to take a first aid course for work yesterday and as the teacher was reading the symptoms of recognising diabetes I realised it sounded a lot like what I've been experiencing lately. Going to get tested, if there is a test.

Dry mouth is also one of the symptoms for diabetes. I am wondering how you know your dry mouth thing is "immune system" caused.

I was having dark urine and it was from kidney stones. Didn't want to drink much because it became really painful.

OK here is my expert response. Over the last year I have been taking about six different medications from Cannimed, all measured in THC/CBC. http://cannimed.ca/blogs/news/81069...eme-de-marijuana-medicale-par-gloria-galloway

The high-CBC strain I did feel was more 'smokey' and irritated my throat more. I did observe that this product was pre-milled and contained semi-intact buds, however there did not appear to be any 'kif' or bud crystals, although some might have a very light power of crystals. The CBD strain also tasted a bit different. Most of their strains did not have the fruity smell, it was almost industrial-pastic flavour - and this didn't really seem 'healthy'. The resulting ash was mainly black from the burned leaves. When burning or vaporizing high quality and highly crystalized buds the ash is grey or almost non-existant as all the material vaporizes.

Sad to just type this, would be so much better to talk about these things in person someday. I have a "friend" with MS. Literally, all he does is stay at home in his studio with the bed in it and smoke pot all day and write. He never contacts me to get together. I've considering looking for more pot friends on facebook but chicken out...I'm married.

thx both!

Infused oil is now legal in Canada since a couple of months. Is it from raw plant? I have to ask at my medical clinic. I have a appointment this coming week and will ask. In the meantime the producers market the oils, the clinic offers to infuse into oils for the patients. If raw infusions is available, I'd be willing to try a gram with THC then! Im excited!

I would love to try it, it's just I don't know any industrial-sized supplier, everything I have access to is already dried.

I got some capsules, about 5 different strengths, for my aunt dying of cancer (she passed away). They were all clear, no colour, and I don't recall if they had been raw though I doubt it since they would be green and no real 'active ingredient'. I've put dried cannabis in tea and felt a mild effect. It is very mild and probably the way it was meant to be taken, with honey and lemon.

does anyone who take CBD oil or THC/CBD oil have dry mouth as side effect?

I tried smoke cannabis 2 nights with a friend, just 3-4 puffs and the next mornings I woke up with very dry throat. This is something impossible for me to accept since I suffer from chronic pharyngitis and dryness is a factor aggravating my condition :(

I read THC synthetic medical pills Nabilone also have mouth dryness as possible side effects... Is this a side effect of THC only?

what about CBD?

Also, I would be somewhat humorous at my attempt to say, what you experienced is probably an experience of every single person who has ever smoked pot!

<<ugh man, that was HARSH!!>>

Am feeling some of that myself, had a 'dab' off a hot knife - was very thick, hot and smokey - bad for the throat. In fact I think I may have some ice cream!

I have a Davinci Ascent vaporizer. It is probably one of the best investments I have made. When done vaping, the cannabis is almost a tobacco like colour. I save it and then cook it in oil, and strain it then put the oil into capsules. There are still CBDs left in the cannabis. Or you can just take the vaped cannabis, grind it up really fine and put it into the capsules. I like to use coconut oil with it though, because when ingesting it, the body needs fat with it to break it down and get the CBDs out of it

.

I am fallowed by ENT doctor, what I have is called granular pharyngitis. It is chronic inflammation of pharynx, which causes dryness and discomfort in the back throat. we are still investigating cause at this point, but it is a immune reaction of my throat cells.

Ok guys, so I am back from the clinic and its been agreed with the dr I will take CBD oil. The strain that has been decided is 0,56% THC and 11% CBD.
I am going to start with the equivalent of 1 gram/day. Does this makes sense to you?
The plan is I will buy a 30 g bulk, which will then be heated and infused in coconut oil. This woud give me bottle of 300ml of oil for a month. I would take 3ml/day. does this makes sense to you?

They told me a story about a fighting CD woman who was brought to full remission using cannabis only. Tears came to my eyes. so amazing and encouraging to me. I have so much hope we can come one day to beat this beast with natural means.

@NORBY: I asked about non decarbed THC and they explained to me that CBD has to be heated in order to be effective, so it would not be ideal scenario for me to not heat my cannabis... They were confident CBD alone with minimal THC would help me, be anti-inflammatory and regulate immune system.

Those are great ideas, I vape with a Pax and usually smoke the leftovers - you still need to heat up the mixture of material and oil to get benefit from it, right?

Yes, you do have to heat it. I usually put into a glass jar, put some water in the bottom of my slow cooker and then cook on high for 8-10 hours. I then filter out the plant material. :)

Hi, I'm new here and new to Crohns. I was finally diagnosed in Sept. Entocort treatment failed and I'm now on week 5 of predinsone and MTX. Now, I do smoke cannabis occasionally and have absolutely found it helps calm my gut. furthermore, because I'm still in such a terrible flare that I can't eat much so (I have lost 40lbs since May and am now skin and bones!) the weed helps promote an appetite with not as much gut issues following. Anyhow, I'm excited to explore more about using cannabis. So happy I found this forum. :)

Hi all...just joined the forum yesterday. I was diagnosed with Crohn's 9 years ago after a "double-dip" (colonoscopy+endoscopy)...my flareups were rather infrequent - maybe once a month.

I was prescribed a probiotic and some other med (don't recall at this point) but have had much better success after following a suggestion from a fellow sufferer and cutting out milk/ice cream from my diet (along with an almost daily dose of MJ). Unfortunately, I had a new flareup for the first time in about 7 years the other night, but I'm convinced it was overeating something that didn't agree with me.

Looking forward to continued progress with legalization across the US to ease experimenting with different strains, concentrates, etc. Good to hear about relief with high CBD strains...has anyone looked into Cannabis Ruderalis as a source?

I sympathize with all of you...this condition is far from pleasant event for a mild case like mine; can't really fathom what some of you must go through.

You can always use fresh non decarbed THC and not get much of a high. The THC won't cross the blood brain barrier easily if it's not decarbed but you still get all the health benefits throughout the rest of the body.

I just started CBD strain oil. I have been told by the cannabis producer and councellor at my clinic we must heat the THC in order for it to become activated and effective.

Where can I get information on your claim that non decarbed THC has medicinal effect?
thank you!

So I was surprised that noone has yet to mention or comment how the legalazation of medical marijuana at the federal level just recently will effect, hopefully in a positive way, and I cannot see it being anything BUT that. It's such a great thing to see that is is finally being legalized in medical form across the country at the frderal level. Now people with so many other disorders as well wont have to feel shamed when taking things that don't even get you high such as cbd's to help with whatever affliction they are dealing with. Hopefully now it wont be too long before they actually legalize it across the board at the federal level. Just makes so much sense to do so, although I am sure I will catch a lot of flack for that statement, I don't see how it could effect society more negatively than compared to alcohol. Riddle me that. Anyway, hats of to big govt for figuring a way to profit like a mofo off it, cuz i bet thats the only reason it was legalized for medical purposes. Either way, it is a good thing for all who are suffering.

I'm with ya. It's something I'm looking into.

I have a 15 year old son who was diagnosed at 8 years old with severe Crohn's with perianal involvement. He has suffered for many years and has been on 6mp, remicade, and many others over the years. he now is on Humira after having reactions to remicade. Does anyone know if the medical marijuana helps Crohn's patients with perianal involvement?

it's a start i guess, but im not sure this has been looked into that much yet. Study says THCa, or in other words unheated nondecarboxylated THC, inhibits tnf-alpha.

Smoking it immediately relieves my urgency to have a bowel movement and any discomfort or pain.
Consuming it (Oil/edibles) has a longer lasting effect. During a flare up I use both in tandem along with strict dietary changes. I no longer use pharmaceuticals to maintain inflammation.
I have an appetite to promote weight gain, I can get to sleep without having to bm every hour and I am less stressed.
Experiencing how drastically marijuana has helped my condition makes me wish anyone else suffering can also experience the same benefits.

I got extreme relief from smoking these new concentrates, dabs, oils, whatever you want to call them. They are amazing at helping revive my appetite and hunger, I get hungry, and not like the munchies, but hungry for food. It also is tremendously helpful with aiding in sleep, and relaxing the pain in my stomach. Although, for me, it wasnt enough for pain control by itself. I would only smoke at night, before bed, and with pain meds, i would actually get to sleep more than an hour at a time, without having to run to the bathroom every hour.
Back in 2010, I was having issues eating, before I knew I had crohn's, and I was like naseuas especially when it was time to eat, so the only thing that helped was to eat like half a marijuana cookie 30 mins before dinner, and i would have appetite, my nauseous feeling would subside, and I would be able to eat a meal. Looking back at my life, its crazy to see all the things that pointed towards having crohn's for most of my life for at least 30yrs of my 37yrs of life.... not extremely bad, but def symptoms of having crohn's.

Hi kikidee, Im currently using 2 grams a day of CBD oil and there is no psychoactive side effects. psychoactive side effects comes with strains with THC.

im already in CD remission. Im using it in hopes to maintain remission and for other immune issues somehow related to CD. Im on my second month trial, cant pronounce myself yet on efficacy.
