medical marijuana in the UK

so, I used to be a recreational pot user, this stopped with losing my job and then Crohns decided to get uber funky, avoiding sleeping pills with anti depressants and pain meds despite doctor suggesting them, I would sooner pursue this route before giving in to the more established medical methods.

Im assuming my GI doc would have suggested any medical trials or w/e given that I have talked about how much weed used to help me before diagnosis, I had symptoms since i was 7 and was diagnosed when I was 25ish, so have only been treated medically for about 2 years or so, but still I like to think my GI listens enough and would have an open mind to such things at least enough to inform me of my options. If im wrong about my assumptions it seems only to make good sense asking here also. I have smoked socially but literally only a puff or 2 here and there as It wasnt mine and I didnt want to develop the "moorish" feeling and ruin my night out with a desire to smoke and feel relaxed, though tbf that night ended with me crying in pain on the floor of the hotel after daring to do a bit of dancing, yeah goths can dance.

at this point in time I havent slept more than 4/5 hours in the last 4/5 days, and im beginning to fantasise about smoking, it really hasnt crossed my mind so much since I concluded that I would never have enough cash for it, this forum has deffo made me want to experiment.
ty and damn you : P

If you have insurance and a decent doctor see if you can get a script for Sativex.
It's a whole plant extract prescribed for MS and a few other conditions. I think
England is about to legalize it or has already. It's made by a company called G and W
pharmaceuticals that is based where you live. They are also trying to develop a crossbreed specifically for Crohns but I bet the Sativex would help in the meantime.
I haven't tried it as I live in the US in a med pot friendly state. I got a prescription written for it but could find no one willing to import it for me which can be done legally even though it's not for sale in the US yet. Unfortunately I assume it will be very expensive thus my saying "if you have insurance" as I know you have health coverage for everyone (unlike the US) but don't know how it works or what it covers.

ill look into that cheers.

just a word of warning with sativex...it is not just a organic mixture it has added a very high amount of alcohol (apparently this makes it able to spray, which is absoulte lies)

i also live in UK and i believe that i would be more happy being medicated and enjoy my life with a plant that puts me in the same criminal eyes as a murderer or rapist , than live on normal doctors tablets which dont help me and have a lower quality of life....

i hope it becomes legal for medicinal users soon as i cannot believe they can arrest you for trying to make yourself better

i have tried cannabis once during a flare up and i must say, it did help alot although afterwards i was given other medication which had a better effect for me eventhough it did take longer to kick in,

good luck with it mate i hope they do something about it over here for people who do need it

Actually it's the truth. The various cannabids in marijuana are not water soluble, to extract anything beneficial from it you need to use either alcohol or fat. If they used an oil as the base it would be far too viscous and would not spray properly. Alcohol is the only effective way to extract it in a form that you could spray.

What this post says is true in one manner that the cannabinoids are not water soluble for the most part. But hashish can be made with a water extraction method. Also hashish oil can be made in a manner that has no alcohol or any other solvent in it. Though in that state it's not viable for an oral spray it can still be encapsulated.
I've personally found that some very high quality strain specific hashish can be custom ordered from dispensaries in Colorado if one looks around. I also saw a bottle of
some type of elixir (I didn't check for solvents) that had 300 mg of thc and 100 mg of cbd. Also there are soda pops sold with up to 100 mg thc and somehow they have solved the problem of cannabinoids not readily being water soluble as there is no alcohol present in the soda pop.

For general pharmaceutical purposes any other extraction method isn't cost effective.

On a small scale, unless one plans on extracting for a tincture, the labour required for one process compared to another isn't a huge difference. Small scale is labour intensive either way.

Water can be used by itself, however it is very wasteful. Using water and a fat is quite effective for the home brew type of person.
