So I apologise if this gets a little graphic but I need somewhere to vent.

Obviously we've all discussed a lot about crohn's being worse when it's that time of the month, but what about the actual implications of it? I personally hate wearing pads. Ever since my first period I swore that the next time I was going to use tampons and I've never looked back since. I like the mess to be contained inside me to be removed when I choose rather than it leaking out everywhere. Gross.

ANYWAY. My Crohn's has been the worst it's been in a while today. As in, I've actually been very aware of it rather than my usual being able to pretend I don't even have Crohn's. But this means more frequent trips to the loo and this is my problem. Every time I do, I have to take the tampon out otherwise it pushes itself out. It also seems like sods law that right after I've put a new one in, I feel like I need to go again. So I'll try and hold it in a bit longer because I feel like I'm wasting all these tampons and they are not exactly cheap. Then that doesn't do my stomach any good. Grrr.

Has anyone else had this problem? What do you do about it? Just deal with it?

I actually have this problem too, so when I don't have a really heavy period, I use a thin pantyliner (I use them every day any way) and then put tissue paper over that to catch the extra blood. Then I can throw out the tissue every time. Hope this helps! Of course, it doesn't solve the problem of heavy flow days!

Thanks Nicole.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Luckily mine never gets too heavy. I've just been putting a thin pantyliner on in the evening when it's lighter anyway and just evaluate the situation on my half hour toilet breaks lol. I was just heavier than usual last night and my emotions were feeling menstrual too, which never usually happens.

I just bloody hate periods!!! Excuse the pun. They're a nightmare when they are here, but when we don't get them we panic as to why they're not here. Grrr.

Aww Michelle. I have noticed that my periods ALWAYS make my flares worse, and that was before I knew I had crohns! One week before periods, night sweats. Bad periods, horrible D. Tampons...NOT. Pads. Only way. Although if you twist and move the string forward in your panties. But no, because of your strictures and the need to push, no, tampons arent going to cut it for you. The Always pads are good, thin, take alot of bleeding, and if you position them forward more, aren't noticable if you wear tighter clothing.

Sweetie, you will get those blockages out and it will get better for you.
