Hello,
I have been very happy to see that B12 is often mentioned. It is very important and I am passionate about learning more about this. On many occasions b12 is a treatment and not a supplement. I hope this is in the right place.

I don't know how many are under the impression that to be low in b12 parts have to be missing. That is not true.

After years of self injecting I am finding it harder and harder to do. I do not want to loose control of doing this myself. It is forever.
Things became more difficult when my weight dropped and I hit the bone in my thigh. It created a fear of the shot. I guess I lost my throwing arm...lol.

I still do my own, much more difficult now then ever. Only every other week. At the end of the first week I start to get extremely nauseous. I now noticed after the shot my nausea eases the next day. Does anyone else have this happen?

Also, how long has it taken to bring your level up? Mine is barely above the low norm. Any advice is welcome.

I was never told about loading doses. Really wish I had known before.

I do know the importance. I also know the long term effects of being left deficient for too long.
I look forward to any information.

I want to thank David for being a Star!! You are doing a wonderful thing, telling others the importance of b12. You are most likely saving people from a lifetime of suffering needlessly. *If they get checked and treatment.*

Thank you for any input and for reading this.

What was your specific B12 level last time you were tested? And just to clarify, you take weekly injections? What is the dosage and where specifically do you inject?

Some people do indeed require weekly injections however, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center, anyone taking one B vitamin should take them all to avoid imbalances. So you may want to discuss taking a complex B vitamin as well with your doctor.

Hello,
If I remember correctly I think it was *** when last checked, yes it is above the low ** mark but after over * yrs of injections you would think it would be higher. It was *** range(wish I could remember exact). I do every other week injections. ****mcg. in the thigh/intramuscular.
I hate the shots so much now and they are getting tougher to do. I have no choice but to do them. I do not want to loose control of this little aspect of a thing I can do to help myself. If that makes sense. I also have some weird coordination issue as I can only inject on my right.

I have never felt any burst of energy from a injection. Often it almost feels the opposite and I need a nap. I did mention this to my Dr. funny that they mentioned that even at ***mcg only a small amount is absorbed, and most really shouldn't feel a difference.

I feel so frustrated with many aspects of CD. The deficiencies are a difficult part.

I have never been told about b complex taken along with b12. (I do not doubt you at all) Do you think if the bowel is missing or destroyed b complex would have a difficult time absorbing?

I will see what my level is soon.
Thank you a bunch.:thumright:

I'd discuss increasing your injections to once per week with your doctor. Another option is asking about supplementing the every other week injection with the B12 patch, nasal spray, or HIGH dose oral since you're having trouble with the injections.

The link I posted above to umm.edu is where they mention to B vitamin imbalance issue if you want to read up on it.

If the bowel is missing or destroyed, yes, there's going to be increased issue with absorbing just about every vitamin and mineral.
