Hello

I am looking for some advice. I have started a new job that requires me to be up at 6am every morning. I am struggling with bloating and trapped wind in the morning and I am unable to go to the toilet first thing.

I have either a slice of toast or a croissant for breakfast with a glass of semi-skimmed milk. If I attempt to eat during the day I get bloating and extremely tired. I was thinking about protein shakes but I am worried about trapped wind. I do drink diet cokes but I am stopping them.

many advice greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Jon

@Timelordsboots I'm not much for helpful advice, but I've been told the bloating may improve if you eat 2-3 hours prior to bed. It has helped with me with just the symptoms of bloating.

Thanks James02 that is a great help thanks and I will give it a try. I will have to figure out how to fight the hunger craving for the rest of the night! 🙂

My go-to breakfast that is a little of a take on what you do is an english muffin toasted with half with a little butter and jam and the other with a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese. It's not too heavy but gives me enough to get going. I also am a fan of the Muscle Milk pre-mixed shakes and often grab those when on the go. Really comes down to trying different things and seeing what works with your body.

Thanks DCCrohns

it’s tricky finding what works for you. People at work ask me why I am not eating during the day but it bloats me and makes me tired. It’s how I fell into the trap of drinking Diet Coke which is a bloating/trapped wind problems all of its own! :)

My son who has crohn's, has a smoothie for breakfast - made with oat milk, fruits of choice including a banana. You can also add an ensure or boost instead of the oat milk if you are looking for more calories/protein. You can actually prepare it the night before and blend it in the morning.

I’d try a low residue diet until the wind and bloating eases up. I also find that lactofree milk and gluten free help me most of the time.

my fav new breakfast thing..........fwiw

ok im just gonna slip this in all casual like here.......i really love this stuff tho ;P

instant pot coconut chai millet porridge

--1/4 cup millet soaked and rinsed
--1 cup "milk" blend, which i favor as about 5oz A2diary and 3 oz GUM FREE canned coconut milk.....you can blend diff ways just watch for impure additives in non dairy milks, and A2 milk highly advisable otherwise
--1/2 tsp cinnamon
--1/4 tsp ginger
--1/4 tsp cardamom
--1/4 tsp pure vanilla

slosh it around a bit but dont worry bout lumps too much.....high pressure 10 mins...
natural release 10 mins....or 20....or whatever...

additives of course fruits or superfood powders, fibrous stuff...whatever can be basically like a smoothie....

carbs in millets break down slower, making them even suitable for some diabetic.....and better daytime energy compared to rice or pasta which will more quickly crash you.....there are also different types you can rotate for higher calcium etc different protein/fiber ratios etc etc.....amazing stuff.

My husband stopped having symptoms of Crohn's but stopping carbs, sugar and processed foods. So he enjoys bacon and eggs for breakfast now.
