Hi

Im new here and i wonder if u also have those symptoms?:
In the morning i mostly have the worst symptoms.
I have the most bowel movements and urgency in the morning.

Sometimes when i sleep and i wake up to pee..
If i dont get back in bed after 15 seconds.. the rumble and cramps and movement starts. u also have this?

How come that the morning is mostly the worst?

Also: after almost every meal.. I must take a bowel movement.
do i get enough minerals and vitamins in my body then?
my stool is soft and medium small.

greets ken

Do you have a regular nightly diet that could be causing symptoms? Do you brush your teeth before bed, or in the morning?

Yes, my symptoms are always worst first thing in the morning when I wake up and last thing at night just before bed. Someone else on the forum said that IBD is a "sundowner's disease" meaning the symptoms are worse from sundown until sunrise. I'm not sure why that is, but I definitely experience the same thing.

That's interesting. There's other external factors one could connect to a cycle like that.

Serotonin levels are linked to IBD symptoms and our serotonin / melatonin levels cycle on a 24 hour basis based on light / dark exposure.

There's also vitamin D.

Is there anything else our bodys cycle or that up/down regulates at night?

I've heard that eating and waking up in the morning naturally trigger bowel movements. In healthy people, this urge can be subconsciously suppressed if inconvenient. With Crohn's and other digestive disorders, it can be impossible to suppress, and can come along with asscociated symptoms (cramps, diarrhoea, etc.). I'm not sure about evenings but maybe there's a natural trigger for some people then too.

I get rumbles about ten mins after I lie down. I've been monitoring it and in my case, I think in the first ten minutes of bedtime, it is my "insides" starting to relax. I drink alot of water during the day and sometimes just before bed (not a fabulous idea but I obey my thirst!) so it can happen I need to pee duringthe night.
The morning time, about 5 mins after I wake up, involves a dash to the bathroom. Luckily, it is normally pain free so for the most part, I let my body dictate on that.
I'd like to know what makes my "stomach" rumble so much, it can be a tad embarrassing when it is so loud my boyf hears it. And it makes these funny draining noises, like the washing machine emptying water :ylol:
It has always been like this, my GI just laughs when I tell him with that description. I just sort of go with it, keep monitoring it but I'm inclined not to try to fix everything in my fundamentally broken system.

The rumbling for me is gas moving through the bowels. It is distinct from a flushing sound I get when liquids move through.

Like others, night time was my worst when dealing with obstructions. Things always built during the day. It may not necessarily be due to hormones or chemicals because there is always the simple matter that we eat starting in the morning so there is naturally more there end of day creating more pressure. I found this extra pressure actually created some breathing difficulties for me as well. I would guess that some of this will be dependent upon where your particular issues are located in the bowels.

I do agree with the more frequent movements in the morning. I normally am good for 3 in the first hour and a half of the day and then go with maybe one for the rest of the day.

My son rarely has to go until he has been up for a few hours. What's annoying for him is feeling like he needs to go soon, but it might be an hour or two, or as soon as he leaves the house.

Same here the minute I wake up have to go then up to 6 times a day always D.But last night,OMG the noises in my stomach were unbelievable so bad awoke myself and my husband up,the only thing I think it may have been is the pasta I had at 5.30 for dinner?Sometimes I've only to say to myself I wonder if I have to go and within seconds I'm dashing to the toilet sometimes not quite on time which is just so embarrassing .Winder if these extreme noises have anything to do with the LLQ pain I've had for the last week? can't understand the pain when I've D all the time and NEVER constipated ?

Pasta would generally cause me more problems.

Evenings would be worst for the rumblings, but some times they'd persist through the night and be there in the morning too. Mostly in the mornings I'd be okay until about half an hour after breakfast.

I seem to be the exception. The only time I have problems is if I am having cramps because of something I ate. I figured out what triggers the cramps and since I have removed those foods from my diet I have been fine at night/morning.

When cramps are triggered my abdomen makes ugly noises like it is percolating. Then the cramps start an hour or two later. I dread those rumbling noises.

Pasta is generally a safe food. Sometimes it doesn't matter what we eat, and just the act of eating can provoke symptoms. Is the pain cramps? Diarrhoea can occur with crampy pain as the intestines are working too much. Gas can cause pain and noises. But there are many ways in which Crohn's can produce pain.

I often get a noisy stomach when sitting in bed reading at night and usually it means the next day is going to be rough, but I haven't related it to any food I've eaten.

What annoys me is when I prepare a meal or even some toast and before I can eat it I have to dash off to the toilet, and then my food is cold and either the dogs have it or it ends up in the bin:(.

Mornings have always been the best time for me. I can eat a lot of breakfast even if I was on flare. Everything works and all is good. Later evenings might be the hardest if I am having troubles with my stomach.

Body is producing cortisoles (natural cortisone) during the night and its on highest level in the morning. This should make the mornings naturally easier, this was explained to me by my GI some years ago.
