Hi my name is Anita I joined this support group hoping to be able to express and understand what my son may be experiencing as he is only six. He is about to have his third Colonoscopy early March with his team suspecting that he has Crohn's. He has been confirmed as having Colitis over a year and a half ago. He has also been referred to the Maxillo dept as they also suspect he has Crohn's in his mouth. Any support for this distressed mummy would very much be appreciated, many thx.

Thx so much Joan, it is a worrying time for us. I have been reading some of the posts on her and already can relate to many of them. Just get lost for words, seems so unfair and it makes me feel angry and frustrated. The good thing that our son has on his side at the moment is that he is maintaining his body weight, but displaying many other related symptons. Thx for your kind words.

Anita

Hi Anita,

I'm so sorry you and your family are going through this. I can't begin to fathom how tough it may be.

Why do they think he has Crohn's Disease in his mouth? Does he have mouth ulcers? If so, PLEASE have them test his vitamin B12, folate, and any other B vitamin levels they're willing. People with Crohn's Disease are commonly deficient in these and one of the symptoms is mouth ulcers and other inflammation/soreness in parts of the mouth. People here have had success supplementing those vitamins.

Please keep us updated :)

Hi Anita and :welcome:

I'm so sorry to hear about your boy, bless him...

As Joan has suggested, pop on over to the parent's forum, we have a number of parent's there with young children. You will find we all kindred spirits there and we all know those feelings of anger, frustration and utter despair.

Also as David has said, there are presentations of Crohn's in the mouth that are extra intestinal, what does your son have going on there? What other symptoms is he experiencing?

Thinking of you,

Hi David, Dusty and Angrybird,
My son has nodules at the back of his tongue and throat, his GI Consultant has now referred him to Maxilo peeps, my son very often gets ulcers in his mouth, nasty big one on his lip at times as well and displays a look of being run down. His lips and gums look very red like an angry red. He does at times run a temp for no reason. My husbands father had Crohns so it may be that it has skipped a generation. He also wakes up in the morning with one eye looking like he has had a round with Mike Tyson, this was explained to his team who have confirmed that this is all part of it and that it is imflammation. Thx for your support it really helps, sometimes you just feel alone and isolated xXx
