I was able to get a somewhat decent picture of the mouth ulcer that I have in my mouth...is this what they generally look like when they are related to crohn's? I've had it for over a week and it just seems to be getting bigger.
Thanks.

That looks extremely painful. I get a few ulcers on the roof of my mouth & I'm sure they are crohns related. The trouble is unless you can get a very quick appointment @ hospital so they can do a tissue sample then there is not a lot that can be done but try & get rid yourself. Salt water mouthwashes & I've found that the anti sceptic throat sprays are excellent @ getting rid of them. Either way that looks large & must be hell for you.
Best Wishes

I am going to see my GI doctor on Friday for an apt to discuss test results so she said she would look at it then. I am not diagnosed with Crohn's yet but have a lot of the symptoms. And yes, this sore is killing me. :(

That looks painfull. Whenever I have had bad flare ups, mouth ulcers have always been the first thing to appear and are a sign of things to come in my experience. Hope you are feeling better soon. Mouth ulcers are horrible.

Don't even get me started in mouth ulcers!! They drive me crazy! After a flare or 'bad episode' I usually get about 3 on average come up almost suddenly and last for 1-2 weeks on average. I've discussed This both my with my IBD nurse and Specialist and both said this is a common occurrence with post and pre crohns flares and can affect people on different levels.

I've used bonjela, some other expensive stuff from Boots (name escapes me) and sprays but honestly I think anti septic sprays are the way forward.

Im over in the states a lot and they have a wide range of flavoured sprays so I always try and pick some up then.

I literally feel your pain though :(

Is this what a "normal mouth ulcer" looks like for crohn's? I've had blisters with my lupus but never anything like this "hole" in my mouth before. I've tried the salt water and some type of Kanaka stuff but that stuff hurts like nobody's business when I put it on and doesn't seem to help. I will definitely try some of the anti-septic spray. It hurts to talk, eat, laugh...even my teeth hurt at this point.

I don't know if what you have in your mouth is a mouth ulcer (although it looks like it) but from the pain you describe along with the difficulty eating and speaking it sounds as if it is, usually they have a whiteish top layer on them but I'm told they vary in shape, size and colour.

It's worth pointing out that mouth ulcers are also common in Poor dental hygiene and other conditions so if it's something that persists or gets worse then I would check it out just to make sure but 99% of the time it's nothing to worry about.

Do try anti septic sprays and I hope it gets better soon

The circle part is whitish/yellowish even though the picture doesn't show it. I see the GI doctor on Friday so if it is still there I will show her.

Looks exactly like my mouth ulcers did! I had so many they fused together. The oly thing that helped for me was Lozenges designed for a sore throat. They just deaden your whole mouth. It was the only way i could eat!! As soon as my prednisone started working they went away! Hope you get it all figured out!

Thanks...Fortunately, it is starting to heal so I am getting some relief but I guess my doctor will have to go by the picture I show her on Friday.
