Would stool in the colon interfere with the reading of the MRE? Would it affect the quality? Or does the stool expand the colon the way the contrast does...therefore help give a better image?

Stool in the colon can interfere. Claire had some still present on hers. They were calling it secondary infarct or something of the sort....:).

It can do which is why they ask that you fast for 4 hours prior the procedure, it reduces the amount of food transitioning through the small bowel. Excess matter in the bowel may mask abnormalities.
