Hi there,
I'm having problems.
I keep randomly leaking mucous. It leaves nasty stains.
Does anyone else have this problem? If you have, did it just go away, do you still have it or do you have some sort of fix?
Thanks,
Rhys

Hello Rhys
I read your well written and interesting history of events.
You have done very well.
The mucous leaks should be reported to your gastroenterologist who will be able to help you in this regard.
Sometimes the smallest symptoms can be much larger than we expect---seems to be the world of Crohn's.
kindest regards and welcome to the forum

That's what I thought. I've told my mum, but she doesn't think I should specifically call him up. I have an appointment to see him next Tuesday.
Do you think I should call him tomorrow, or wait until Tuesday?
Thanks!

hello Rhys
sometimes with these things it can be better not to wait
your gastroenterologist might like to know of your problem before next week, usually they don't mind a phone call
hope this helps

Hi Rhys

better safe than sorry, I'm sure your doc will be ok about seeing you earlier, they usually tell you to call their secretary if there are any problems (here in UK anyway)

Thanks,
I'll give his secretary a ring tomorrow then and give him a short update of my symptoms.
I was going to be seeing him yesterday, but my other GE called up and said it was probably too early, just a week after starting the steroids.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I had leakage no matter what meds I was on. I just had a colostomy in December, and for the first time in 4 years I haven't had any leakage....lol (not having connected parts helps alot!). I always just wore panty liners (I know, not what a man wants to hear, but they really did save on underpants).

Good luck, maybe your GI will have a solution that mine didn't.

I've also had leakage until I had my ileostomy a few weeks back. I had leakage for 7 years that I didn't report to my GI because I didn't want to have a problem. I was in denial and now I've got the ileostomy, which isn't too bad to be honest. One thing that helped me was to take 3-4 pieces of toilet paper, fold them up, and shove them into my butt. You can't do that while exercising but for everything else it will save your pants, literally.

Yes, I've had this happen, kind of as a forerunner for a flare-up. Occasionally it will stop on it's own but more often than not I need Cortifoam and Rowasa enemas.

I have the same experience as Cindy - except the colostomy part ! Had a lot of leaking mucus in the early stages of my Crohns trying different meds but since I came on Remicade and the remission kicked in its hardly noticeable anymore :) - maybe occasionally after a morning poop.
