This is really gross but what does it mean when bowel movements are just tons of mucus and no stool? I have been having tons of pain that I am doubled over with and my diarrhea that used to be 3-7 times of day is now down to just once or twice a day but I am having at least one or two times that I am having a trip to the bathroom and it appears to be just mucus. I'm not 100% sure but I googled a picture and that is what it looks like. I am taking a picture with me to my doctor tomorrow to show her but thought I would ask you all since you have been so helpful. There is a ton of it. I usually have the white film but this is "jelly-ish" and a bunch. I also passed out the other day.

Again, I am not diagnosed but a IBD seems likely based on symptoms.

My son was just diagnosed with Crohns his issues started last August. Funny thing is I've had GI issues for going on two years, first colonoscopy/upper endoscopy found gastritis and h. pylori. Symptoms from h. pylori subsided but other issues remained. Then a year later my gall bladder was removed due to the results of a HIDA scan showing in the low 20% range(wasn't below normal range) problems persisted. But I, too experience the doubled over in pain and bouts of D and there is mucus in my bm too. GI has scheduled another colonoscopy/endoscopy followed by small bowell follow through and/or pill cam if results don't come up in first test. The GI said that mucus is indicative of inflammation somewhere in GI tract duet to that, my symptoms and the fact that my son was diagnosed with CD he is leaning toward that being the source of my issues also. I have also had episodes where I almost pass out with D, the GI said this is due to a sort of shock to my vagus nerve which is sensitive to gut issues and when you faint is most often a vasovagal reponse(shock to the nerve of sorts).
Your explanation of mucus seems to match what I see but mine has never been all mucus. I would definitely tell your doc about it. Sorry this was so long but your symptoms seem so similar to mine. Hope it gets straightened out for both of us!!

Well, I showed her the picture and she said it looks like a bunch of mucus with blood and that was about it. She made a note of it but didn't seem overly concerned with it. She did schedule me for a colonoscopy on Thursday and a CT angiogram on Monday and if they don't show anything then I need to do the pill camera. It appears she already knows what it is and just needs to confirm based on my blood work though.
I hope you get some relief though and I know how miserable I am and hate that anyone else feels this way.
