Wondering if anyone knows of a good OTC multi. One that isn't gi-normous!
I've asked phamacists, they say they're all big. I've got Centrum right now, they seem good but they are HUGE...I have to stand up to swallow them!!!!
Any suggestions would be great....

Centrum doesn't dissolve well at all... Look at taking a good chewable or liquid multivitamen if you don't like the pills... But the good timed released pills are all big as far as I know...

I'm a 39 (and holding) year old female. I tried Forvia chewables...YUCK..I hate the taste!! I will swallow a large pill if its a choice between yucky chewable or big pill.

Let me know any ideas!

Phew I *almost* got the chewable Forvia because I'm terrible at swallowing pills but the Forvia is soo smooth it just slides right down!! It's not OTC though but you probably already knew that.

OMG Janet, I'm so sorry I tried the chewables...I couldn't stand them, even tho I spent about $16 or so on them I threw them OUT. Anyone that likes the strong taste of vitamin maybe could stand them but not me...

Trader Joe's

Do you have at Trader Joe's in wisconsin? I take their multi vitamin, it's not too huge and a good one. A GP who also has crohn's confirmed it was a good comprehensive one to take.

I was told by my GI's dietician that flinstone complete multis are great to take. They dissolve easily have a great taste and have more than enough vitamins and minerals in it to satisfy.

In the spirit of the Flintstones vitamins, there are also gummy bear vitamins out there as well. One of the brands is basically the only thing remotely chewable on my current elemental diet. But they are pretty good, called Yummy Bears by Hero I think?

I tend to have issues with my multivitamins in that no matter how much or how little I eat with the pills, whether I eat before, after, or during taking them - I get horrible nausea. And it doesn't just last like an hour - it lasts almost the whole morning into the afternoon. I had a hard time finding a pill that doesn't do that - since I have no idea what ingredient it is that causes it. So for a really long time, I haven't been taking a multi. (Smack me now, I know what you are all going to say...shame on me) I just can't stand being nauseas all the time!

i'm taking a bog-standard multivit & mineral supplement, pharmacy own brand, & i have no side effects at all. but the calcium i'm taking does make me feel nauseas for hours after. lol if its not one thing, its another.

Hey, I'm seeing double. Me brilliant? yeah, like a 25 w light bulb. I haven't the foggiest idea about timed release vitamins or supplements. I don't even know if anybody makes them... but it actually might be a great way to deal with problems of mal-absorption issues... so it looks like you are actually the brilliant one here.

just a thought on entericoated tablets.. anyone with altered digestion, fast rate of food travel, dumping syndrome, shortened colon/ileum due to surgery, or even diarrhea - can fail to absorb the full effect of the meds, or even not at all, due to the tablet not staying in the system long enough for the coating to dissolve...

for this reason, i never take entericoated tabs, which is a pain sometimes as alternatives often only come in liquid or dispersible form & therefore taste gross lol, but it's worth it, to know i'm getting the full benefit.

flinstones chewables

I am sensitive to ingesting iron, but must take it.

Flinstones chewables have worked fantastic for this. I get my vitamins, and it is designed less harsh because it was designed for children's systems.

Both my parents went through different forms of gastric bypass, and in all their recovery schooling, they were told Flinstones Chewable Vitamins are the most complete option out there, which absorb quickly and work effectively.

Gummy Vites don't have iron, so if you don't need the iron, take these, they are also well suited to absorb fairly quickly and are gentler on the stomach.

Hope this helps!

Ha - I just bought a big bottle of Gummy Vites yesterday! I have never tolerated any vitamins well - with or without iron. They made me take Flinstones when I was preggers - but that still made me sick. So...I'll try the Gummy Vites and see what happens. I feel like a five year old - but I know I'm not getting all my vitamins....

Standard Process doesn't upset my digestion and the fish oil doesn't come back up.:(
