As some of you know, I got my rectal stricture dilated on Tuesday and am so glad I got it done! I also refused to take full prep (I didn't see the need to go through that when it was only in my rectum) and glad I opted for the enema instead.

The doc that did it was actually one of my fav docs at the hospital (it helps that he's pretty young and dishy). The down side was that I kept feeling air pop through my recto-vaginal fistula. At one point I remember him asking if I was ok and I replied with 'Yes apart from the fact that I keep fanny farting all over you' (fanny being a slang word for vagina in the UK). It's nice to know I can keep it classy under sedation. NOT!

Anyway, they dilated me up to 18mm which was pretty big for me, although the 18mm did hurt quite a lot. No pain, no gain!

For those who are interested, I have pics!!! I'll link them below as I'm sure not everyone will want to see. The top is what it looked at when they first went in and they couldn't get the cam in. The bottom is what it looked like afterwards. A huge improvement!

Pic located here!!

Wow! What an improvement the procedure made! Thanks for sharing.

I hope you are feeling well!

Thanks guys. It was a bit sore and had some bleeding but loads better now and I don't have to down the laxatives again.

It only needs to last me till October but at least I can go on my holiday to Cyprus now without worrying about it causing an obstruction.

Haha why, thank you!

Did I mention how glad I was NOT to have that prep? The enema was very painless too.

Hahah I know.. I thought I had to say something as I could feel like constant popping of air going through it. Luckily he was just like 'Oh don't worry, nothing I've not seen before'. Hopefully he was just referring to his hospital experiences lol.

He WAS no doubt speaking of his hospital experiences!!!

(bit awful sometimes when the Drs are dishy though during THOSE proceedures? Even MORE embarassing!)

lol that's why I have sedation.. nothing to do with the pain or worrying about things going up my bum! Haha!

I told the stoma nurse that he was the one that did the procedure and she started going on about how big his bum is and how I need to look at it the next time I see him lol.

You have me tears here from the laughing, I'm due for scope soon and am already trying to think of serious topics so I don't say something I shouldn't under sedation (my trait i'm afraid) Glad it went well for you, enjoy Cyprus you deserve it.

xxx

Thank you, Gwen! Don't worry about saying things you shouldn't, I think it makes someone interesting and probably gives the Dr's a bit of more interesting day!

Misty- I have no idea! I really don't care that much. I've already had 3 dr's looking at my cervix while I'm sitting there looking at it on a screen before a layer of it got sliced off. I have no dignity left. It's just awful when you accidentally start flirting with them. THEN it gets awkward. Oh my. Aww Dr Bailey probably didn't think anything less of you!

I think they called me in as a teenager just to have a laugh, my GI back then was same age as my dad and he would quiz me about boyfriends, get the info, laugh and then say how much to not tell your dad, NOoooo.

Seen a new GI today and he was HOT, but not only that, he listened and gave me all sorts of advise, I'd marry him if I wan't already married (sorry hubby if you read this). I agreed to full scope for the first time in years and not because he was hot hahaha but he made me comfortable was interested in what I had to say and not like I was wasting his time.

haha I used to say hilarious things when I was sedated as a teen too!

Yes.. this is what this Dr is like. He has actual people skills! Like when I saw him I told him that I recognised him because he was the one that told me I had to have all my colon removed. Then he was like 'Yes, I am that bastard!' Aww love him! It makes so much difference when you can tell they actually care. Shame registrars don't stay around for long!
