It was 8th grade when I was diagnosed, so about 7 years ago. At first it really didn't hit me as to how serious this can be. I just recently started to look into it further.
In the beginning of it all, I went through some pretty bad stomach aches, which lead to a blood test from my doctor. Loss of red cells and increase of white cells ended me up in a few tests (barium *yuck*, body scan, and the colonoscopy along with the endoscopy *which found the issue*)
After that, I was with a specialist for a few years, and then just started going to my original doctor, been on mercaptopurine since unfortunately, i can see a little hair loss as a side affect :/
As of now, I try not to drink sodas, since they seem to make things worse more than anything else i know of. Dairy doesn't seem to do much at all that i know of. I believe mine is in remission at this point, I haven't really had any troubles since before september of 2010. I don't know what else to add...
