I was diagnosed with crohn's in my stomach in March 09. I started taking Prednisone and Mercaptopurne. The prednisone worked great for the first 2 weeks, but I was tapering off so it only worked for 2 weeks. I was still taking the 6-MP until about 3 weeks ago when the GI said that my liver enzymes were elevated and I should stop taking it.

I've been off meds now for about 3 weeks and the stomach and joint pain are back with with a vengence. so is the the fatigue.

Doc is talking remicade but that scares me. I also thought I only had a mild case of crohn's. I'm also having a difficult time finding information that is specific to stomach crohn's.

Anyhow, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Thanks for listening

Welcome to the forum Chelli! Everyone here is just full of information!

I too was diag. in March & was put on Entocort for a few months. I've been off of it for about 2 weeks now & so far things are pretty much back to the way they were before I was on the meds. Hohum!

We're glad you're here!!!! :)

hi chelli and welcome :)

you have come to the right place! theres so much information here and everyone is very helpful and willing to try to help eachother answer questions.
the joint and stomach pains and fatigue are things that most of us can totally relate to, you are among friends here.

we also talk a lot back and forth about different meds and the risks involved. you mentioned that you are scared at the prospect of remicade, theres so many people here who have had great results with it! it has made them feel better for a real long time in many cases. for me, it was the best couple years ive ever had in regards to my crohns.
the risk fo side effects and problems is very small, and yes the effects can be scary, but so is a lifetime of feeling awful due to the crohns! the pros and cons of every treatment can be weighed, and hopefully this place will help you do that and make any decisions easier for you :)
here is the main thread about remicade:

glad to meet you and look forward to seeing you around!

I understand. The doc told me I have a mild case of crohn's and I have had to do Remicade 4 times and it just isn't working for me.

Have you asked your doc what he thinks of Pentasa? Just a thought. My buddy was on 6-MP for a while and he told me never to get on it.

The fatigue sucks major league. I always try to get a little exercise and eat a lot. It seems to help me. Good luck!
