I'm still only on Lialda for my Crohns. Asked my doctor's office if they could prescribe something else so I can get better quicker (going on 12 months of sickness, unable to work or get out much) they were going to prescribe me bentyl but I already have some from the ER a few days ago. They said once it's out, it's out no more refills.....so they're really not going to help me end this flare it seems. What would you do?

Keep in mind:
*In USA
*No money for appointments at gastro specialist at all! $150-$200 an appt.
*HCAP pays for all my hospital visits, it's a nun charity at the hospital. (My specialist has his own office so of course HCAP doesn't help).
*No medicaid because I'm waiting on disability (meet with a disability lawyer today). So they're waiting UNTIL disability gives me money which could be awhile.
*Keep getting infections nonstop......:(

make an appointment with the doctor for current symptoms. when intake nurse asks you questions give your symptoms and tell her the bentyl helps and is out and you need a refill. she will write all of this down making it a part of your permanent medical records. tell the doctor the same thing. Tell them you can't afford a specialist. Tell the doctor, again, your current symptoms. If they refuse to treat you tell them you are going to find a doctor who will treat your current symptoms. Then find another doctor. Sorry you have a doctor who sucks and isn't treating you properly.

I can't find another doctor......no money for appointments. I can't make an appointment with any doctor......no money! lol They said Bentyl can't be refilled.....it's a painkiller you can't keep taking. I suppose it would cause liver damage if you take it more than a week or two......

if I'm off of it....my flare will be much much worse! Doc said I'm on it for life so when I get better I won't have a flare. :(

make an appt with the gastro. when you show up give them $20. Tell them that's all you have today to bill you. Then pay them when you can, even if it's later. Scrounge up $20 (for a "copay") and go see a gastro.
