Hello all, wanted to share my experience with Shakeology. I noticed that it's been brought up here and there and that most people don't know/haven't heard about it.
I was diagnosed with Crohns back in 2007 after going to the doctor based on a few episodes of abdominal pain. My first few years with the disease were relatively problem free. I was taking Pentasa and really didn't have any problems. 2 years ago is when all the problems started. I went to the ER with really bad abdominal pain, had a CT done which showed a perforation and had emergency surgery. The next 7 months were miserable! In and out of the hospital another 6 times, multiple abscesses, liquid only diets etc. My real break came when I was finally put on Remicade...I felt healthy again! I had lost a ton of weight, but I was slowly able to put some back on and feel good again. Certain foods still brought on abdominal pain, I had gas a lot, and my stomach was almost always gurgling. I wasn't perfect as I would still get the usual symptoms every once in a while.
Then a friend of my girlfriend told me about Shakeology. She told me about all the great vitamins and nutrients in it and how I should try it to see how it helped with my Crohns. I did some googling (if that's a word lol) and saw a decent amount of success stories with it. It was a little more on the expensive side but I figured it'd be worth a shot and ordered some. I got the vanilla but there was also strawberry, chocolate and a few others.
My first thought was that it tasted pretty good. I was told to try mixing it with some things so I added a little peanut butter and vanilla extract to mine. I actually have this for lunch as a meal replacement but you can drink it whenever. The first few days I didn't really feel a difference, though as time went on I did start to feel a little better. I started noticing my stomach gurgling had gone down (not away), the gas had gone away. I FELT better! I've always been really active so energy was never a problem with me, but I did notice a boost in energy as well. After the first couple weeks I was convinced. Remicade keeps me out of the hospital, and Shakeology keeps me feeling good! Quite the 1-2 punch lol. I suggest doing some research on it and giving it a shot
