I'm new to membership of this forum but I have been a reader since I was d/x with Crohn's in 2011. I first off would like to take a moment to say thank you to all who share on here. I don't know how many times it has made me feel like someone understands when I've felt alone in my world of invisible disease. It's been very hard for me to talk about this because I have felt gross and embarrassed regarding my disease. Anyways... through seeing how in this forum everyone talks about their d/x and all the issues I've had and always felt to scared to talk about in front of people has helped to get to the point where I am speaking up and getting the help I need. So again thanks!
So with that in mind I'm looking for a little advice, info, and support...
I'm recently experiencing new and frightening complications that come with this wonderful disease. I've recently been told I have perianal disease In which they multiple seton placements during my colonoscopy next Monday and I'm also going have to have my first resection (terminal ileum, cecum, appendix) due to terminal ileum stricture. I guess I don't really know what to except from any of this. Like how I'm gonna feel after this, what to expect during the time during /after the procedures ,anything I should know before this happens!?? I really feel like I don't even know the right questions to ask bc I've never dealt with this before so anything, anyone would be willing to let me in on would be greatly appreciated! Btw sorry for being so scatter brained. I'm just nervous and can't really think straight.

Welcome - I'm not familiar with your surgery situation but I'm here to wish you good luck that all goes well and that you heal quickly!!

Hi there Ragdoll. I'm so sorry you are having a hard time of things at the moment :-( Have a look at the surgery stories on this link Many of us, including myself, have had the type of resection that you are having and shared there stories here. I think they will give you a good idea of what to expect. Have you got a date for the surgery?

Thank you Grumbletum, I will definatly check that link out! I have to get the colonoscopy first so they can make sure they know if I have any other issues before surgery. Thay are doing that next Monday.

Hello Ragdoll! Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear that you have to get surgeries, but hopefully they will help you. :( I'm the forum monitor for the Fistula, Abscesses And Fissures section, so you can look around there or feel free to ask questions! Although I understand if you don't until after your surgery, too.

Thank you so much theOcean! I will be working my way over there ASAP! I have a ton of questions! I feel like a stranger in my own body! So many crazy things happening and it's wonderful to have a group of people I don't feel embarrassed talking to!

Hi Ragdoll, Do you go to the Cleveland Clinic? I see we don't live too far from each other. I had surgery 18 years ago at the Clinic and they are fantastic.

Hey Maey2462, Yeah we are practically neighbors! :) Also, I am going to the Cleveland Clinic. I tried to find a doctor locally for years but there is no doubt now that it is worth the drive to go there. Thanks for positive review on them! It always makes me feel better to know other people have had a good experience with them.
