Hi Pluto
I'm very pleased to hear you are doing well so far. I must ask, what medication are you weening off of?
Can you please elaborate on your diet? (please try and be specific, if you already have a thread explaining your diet, please point me in that direction).
Please do be careful and try and tune in to your body over the next few months.
I do believe that optimal nutrition is the key to this disease and I just want to make sure you are getting that optimal nutrition.

"Now instead imagine fresh organic green vegetable juice comes down the digestive tract. YAYY!! A huge dose of energy is being assimilated and only a very very very little amount of energy needs to be used to digest the nutrients because its already in liquid form!!! So not only are you resting your gut and saving energy, but also you are giving your body an intense dose of energy and fresh vitamins and minerals so the immune system can use it at war!!! HOORAH! Hey Gianni, thanks for your response. I had been a regular juicer for about 4 months when the Crohn's symptoms began showing. I am convinced that if I had not been juicing, the symptoms would have been a lot worse. I stopped juicing, supposedly temporarily, to control the "D" and never got back to it because all of the work involved. When my energy is restored consistently I would like to get back to juicing.
Avocados are a basic part of my diet, as are all greens. I can tell you that rice and different kinds of wheat products I do not tolerate well.
"Green-foods" are always best for me. I am not a total vegetarian, but I no longer eat beef. I can tolerate most fish well and do eat chicken a few times a month. I try to limit my intake of fried foods. Carbonated beverages and caffeinated coffee are out. I still do not drink enough water, but when I do it is filtered, although ionization would be best, especially since it would also alkalize the water.. Mostly of everything I eat and consume is high alkaline, low acid, as that is best in general for the digestive system, and especially when it is in the process of healing. Keeping down inflammation is the key, as well as possibly healing some of the ulcers.
See: http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?p=472528#post472528, Post #20 for links to all kinds of sites that I have used. Recently, I have added Berry Herbal Teas, as they are high in anti-oxidants.
I weened myself off of
Colazal, an anti-inflammatory sulfur based drug. It had worked very well for me.
Thanks for encouraging me to go back to juicing. I know I would feel even better immediately, but the setting-up and clean-up just take so much work. Take care, and I hope that you also are doing well!
