I'm 64 years old, diagnosed with Crohn's back in the 70's and then had a resection in 1986. I lived with the disease with relatively few, and minor complications until about 2020. At that point, I began having more frequent issues with abdominal pain and occasional blockages that required a trip to the ER. I lived with these issues until they impacted my ability to do long backpacking trips. My GI finally convinced me that the area at my terminal ileum was constricted enough that I was at risk of even more severe and more frequent blockages. A colonoscopy in May 2023 showed one area was particularly inflamed with an inside diameter under 7 mm, and very red and irritated. I began taking Skyrizi in June 2023. Since starting my Skyrizi I have not had one single episode of any abdominal pain. No blockages. I had a colonoscopy this week and my doctor said I am a walking poster child for what these biologics can do. The area of constriction is now 100% wide open, and there is no redness in the area at all. Most importantly, I am 100% pain-free (which matches up with my colonoscopy!)
I apologize for my non-detailed report above. I'm sure my doctor could describe my condition better - but that's my story in layman's terms! God Bless America.
