Hi everyone, my name is Lorie. I was originally diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis 17 years ago. After 10 years of trying every type of medicine you can think of I had to have my colon removed, ending up with a j-pouch. This was in 2005. I really thought that all my problems would be gone, but for the next couple years I kept getting what I thought was pouchitis. Then 2 years ago I was having severe pains. After months of tests I found out that I have crohn's disease. And I may have been mis-diagnosed in the beginning. It has been 20 months that I have had a continuous flare, everything from fistulas to abcesses. I was on remicade for 6 months but it didn't help in getting me into remission. I am now waiting on the insurance so that I can start humira. "hopefully this week". My joints and muscles are killing me. After lots of research I am now trying natural healing remedies. (aloe Vera, fish oil, omega 3, 6, 9, flaxseed oil, slippery elm). I am hoping to see some difference soon. My body hurts!

Welcome to the forum Lorie. I'm so sorry that your troubles continued! I honestly have that same fear lingering in the back of my mind ~ that I may have been misdiagnosed. Fingers crossed.

That's too bad that the Remicade isn't working for you. I hope that the Humira will do the trick. Hang in there. You're not alone.

Me too! I live right down the road from you, by the way! I'm up on the North East bench of Ogden, near Ben Lomond High. :D I graduated from Roy High in 1994.

Welcome Sorry to here what your going through! Sure hope insurance will let you know right away. I can never really find the right words. But I'm hopeing the pain will let up for you. Hang in there and keep us posted.

Well Jessi, it is nice to meet you. I work in Ogden at DaVinci Academy. Boy it's a small world.
I am hoping to hear from my insurance within a couple days. I hope the humira works better for me than the remicade.

Gosh that's crazy that it could have been a misdiagnosis this whole time. Sorry your feeling so awful now, but I do really hope the Humira works for you!! Good luck and let us know what happens!

Hi Lorie, sorry to hear of all the new issues that have happened :( im just recently diagnosed myself with Crohns i tried the slippery elm and it made me so sick! at first i thought it was just me, but i tried it 3 times. how are yiu finding it? welcome

Lorie, it really is a small world. I just resigned for medical reasons from Ogden Preparatory Academy, your next door neighbor. I love charter schools!!! :) All my kids still attend OPA.

Me again..

Thanks everyone for your support. I had my first set of shots a week ago. Still haven't seen a difference, but I know it takes time. I need to listen to my body and relax more. I tend to overdo it. And Jessi, it really s a small world. A lot of our students come from OPA, it is a really good school. I have had moments when I was ready to resign because of medical issues but the school has been so good to me. I just go home if I am having a bad day. It is good to ave a understanding employer.

I'm so happy you have a good system at your school. They were really good to me at OPA, but I just felt so guilty having to leave the kids unattended every time I had to run to the loo.

Are you joining our Utah support group on December 10th? Hope so!!! :D
