My son has nausea, feels sick in the mornings and chooses not to eat breakfast because of it...
He can drink milk sometimes and other times he can't and has loose bowels...
He is in pain alot, stomach and upper leg pain...
He also has a weak bladder... He also has had many accidents with bowels... Not being able to get to the toilet in time..
I'm not saying he has it, but his symptoms are very similar to mine, and as I have just been diagnosed... It concerns me.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi littlefishes,
Yes those symptoms sound like they could be IBD related but they could also relate to other things.

Can I ask how old your son is? Has he seen a GI yet?
Given your history I would think it would warrant further investigation.

He is 10. He already had a traumatic first 3 years of life with a diagnosis of tracheamalacia and laryngomalcia... Tests and probes and steroid treatments... I'm not trying to ignore the symptoms he has, as I know it's better to find out and treat then to not...
But just feel horrible that he may have this ahead of him too...

My heart goes out to you, my Grace has already had her far share of hardships at a young age. She still amazes me at what she can handle.
A pediatric GI would be the one to go to until then his GP can order........
Also lads like, sed, crp, vit b12, vit d and I'm sure someone will come along with more suggestion.

{Hugs} to you littlefishes. :ghug:

I agree with organising to get your son into see a paediatric GI given your history and the fact that you see many similarities to yourself. As you say, he may not have IBD but you don’t wish for his symptoms to go unheeded either.

Are you tracking his symptoms? If not perhaps start documenting now that way when you do see the GI you have concise information to present to him/her. We have suggestions in the wiki as to what you may like to include in a diary, here is the link so you can have a browse:

Perhaps another suggestion would be to try have bloods drawn -

CBC
CMP
Iron Studies
B12
Vit D
Magnesium
Zinc
CRP & ESR
And also a Faecal Calprotectin stool sample

…done prior to the appointment so the results are available to take with you.

Good luck hun, I hope with all my heart that your lad doesn’t have IBD but that you also get solid answers as to what is going on.

Littlefishes, welcome to the forum! My heart goes out to you, sounds like your little one has already been through so much. There is a genetic factor with Crohn's, so I'd definitely have him seen by a GI. But, his symptoms could be caused by something else too. I hope you won't have to add IBD to your list of things to deal with. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
