Hi and thanks much for this resource,
I'm *just* a mom, albeit a rapidly aging one. My 19 year old daughter has had Crohn's since she was a toddler, so have been at this for aWHILE. It took some doing to get her diagnoses since her first symtoms included an awfully oddddd rash ( discoid something ?) and terrible, terrible foot pain. She also had just a mouthfull of ulcers and was so tiny she was barely on the growth charts. Genetically she comes from a family of overgrown horses, so yes, we knew something was up. It's been a long bunch of years since then, and of course once the stomach pains began and an astute rheumatolgist ( of all people ) sent her straight to the gastro who confirmed the Crohn's.
Her 11 year old brother has been plagued with headaches for some years now. He also tends to pop mystery rashes, has had thrush inexplicably, does seem to have more than his fair share of mouth ulcers, once in awhile complains of joint pain and in the last year or so has been fluctuating between constipation and bouts of diarhea. He has stomach pains here and there, but being a BOY, knows what on earth he's been trying to eat when I'm out of sight? He's also a horse, like the rest of the gene pool here so there does not seem to be an absorbtion problem going on-at the moment. Oh, yes, he's already on meds for reflux-spent a few weeks when he was 8 throwing up until he tore something. I took him back to his sister's gastro a few weeks agon, who has him just trying to get the constipation/diarhea thing sorted out via the clear, dissolving thing. Not, of course, when he has diarhea. Crohn's is in the air- he said the WORD, so I thought I'd browse for more info, believe it or not. I have been dealing with this with my daughter for so long, you'd think I'd know more, but it manifests in soooo many ways I just can't tell! I have questions, and not always a lot of time to be online, but thought it would be nice to join here and at least listen to others. I don't know yet, of course, if this IS 'it', but do not wish to sit around and wait!
Much of this is different, but much looks awfully, awfully familiar. How on earth did I manage TWO of them, poor kids? They have an older sibling with diagnosed IBS, and this makes me 3 for 4, Good Grief!
That's it for the moment. If people answer, please do excuse if I'm absent from on-line for a day or two at a time. I'll be back-just have a limited time to SIT these days.
Thanks much, and hello,
Anni
