The good Lord has blessed me with a wonderful husband of 35 years, 2 fabulous children with equally fabulous spouses, and 2 grandsons. I am a Montessori teacher, and since I love children, I am doing the right thing. My husband and I live in the country outside San Antonio and we are blessed with many friends and all that we need.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 1993. A colon resection was performed in October of 2001. I was on Remicade from 2003-2007. I found the SCD diet in 2007 and had a lot of success with it though I strayed from it in recent years. After enjoying a fairly symptom-free 3 years, my remission ended early this year (2011). I am now on 6-MP and have tried to get back on the SCD diet, but I am finding it very difficult this go-round. I am looking for other diets that have proven helpful to Crohn's patients.

:bigwave: Welcome to the forum! We have many teachers here. I have noticed more the "mature" crohnies are joining more and more and I felt like I was the oldest one here lol.

There are many diets, low residue, gluten free, I am going to a seminar next Saturday and will get more info on naturalpathic ways. I have been on ever diet except SCD , as you say it is hard. Others will come here and tell you thier experiences. Trial and error is the way most of us do, because we are all different.

Glad you found us, hope you find what helps you!

Hi MK and welcome to the family.

I taught at a charter school for several years, but have resigned. I know the love for children that you speak of.

I'm sorry to hear that you are flaring again. I know of a couple diets that have worked for many IBDoers. First of all, the SCD is maybe the most popular, but I've heard that it has some flaws, like peanuts and peanut butter, for one. The GAPS diet is a refined version of the SCDiet. You can easily google it. The Paleo Diet is another one that works for many people. Definitely do the process of elimination on that one, though.

We have a forum here about enteral nutrition which works really well. http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=161

I hope that you can find something that works well for you, and that you find remission soon.

Hi and welcome! I am sorry you are out of remission. If you had success with the SCD in the past, I would certainly recommend giving it another go. However, it sure it tough to stick to, as you mentioned. I give you credit if you are able to get back into the swing of it! I hope 6MP does it's job, too.

Crossing my fingers you start to feel better soon!
