Hello,
Well I have been on the site reading for a couple weeks, and figured its time to post something. I am 24 family man w/ wife, and 1 child. I have had my crohn's for 3 years now. Overall it has been good, and well managed with Lialda; however, in the last couple months things have gone bad. Right at the end of August one day I was woke up with a bad stomach pain. I had a flare I think? After a couple days it got better. Went to the doctor they upped the Lialda, and said if they pain came back to call, and they would start prednisone. I was doing rather well up to the end of September. Then I was starting to feel drained, and stomach was sour. Went back to the Dr. this time they put me on prilosec. This was ok did not have any drastic affects on my stomach though. So now I was in to October, and slowly starting to feel a little worse every day. Then November 3 I was woke from my sleep with terrible pain in the left side stomach area. Took some pepto, and laid down, and managed to fall back asleep. At the start of that week I managed to be seen by my Dr., and they started me on prednisone (60MG taper every 10 days). After 4 days on prednisone I still felt bad called Dr. scheduled appointment. From that appointment I had to get CT scan, and blood work. Blood work was ok, Ct scan showed that my abdomanl lymph nodes seem swollen (I think it was the lymph nodes cant say 100% though). So they had me take ciprofloxacin for 7 days. Still not feeling good so I called the doctor early this week they had me get blood work again. Have not heard results from the latest blood work. As of now I Have missed 3 days work have, and have been late a few times. I have no energy I did not go to thanksgiving yesterday, and it has been causing a lot of stress on the family:frown:. At this point I am very frustrated, and fell like I get confused dog look (eyebrow raised head turned to side) from Dr's when I see them . I am excited to hear from the people of this site, and look forward to lend any information that I can.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear you are feeling unwell at the moment :( What other symptoms do you get with the pain? Is it constant or does it come in waves? Is it a sharp pain or like an ache? Do certain foods make it worse?

Welcome to the forum!

I'm sorry to hear you've been feeling bad, especially on Thanksgiving!

I was wondering, did the Prednisone or the ciprofloxacin help at all?

Well the pain I would say is more in waves. It has been hard for me to describe to other people. For the most part it just feels like my insides hurt.

The prednisone in my opinion has not done much of anything for me, except make me sweaty, and moody. I don't think the ciprofloxacin did anything.

As to elaborate more on the symptoms. My bowls are irregular some hard some soft, and others all liquid (5-10/day). I have cut out alcohol completely caffeine only from my tea in the morning 100MG or less. Food does have some effect and I avoid things like fast food/ processed foods, candy, and dairy. Also I have been having joint, and body aches. Was refereed to a highly recommended RA doctor that works with several patients from my GI's office. That appointment is not until January. I also have lost 20lbs in the last 3 weeks I am not eating as mush as I used to so I don't know how much is diet or crohn's. Weight not a huge concern for me I usually am 230lbs (6'4" tall) so I am still at a healthy weight.

Out of interest when was the last time you had a scope to see what was going on inside? Whilst you wait for the latest results it may be worth to go on a bland, low residue diet to see if this at least helps ease things a bit for you pain wise.

I have a scope on 11/29. My gi does not think its crohns. If it is not a flare then what could it be? Something that I am really struggling with is knowing when symptoms are bad enough to go too and when do I wait it out till next appointment.

If your in bad pain and its consistent and won't go away always try and go find help. Also, of he doesn't think it's crohns there are other diagnosis or could be but always try for a 2nd opinion
