hot water!

seriously - when i've had stomach gripes, a partial blockage, feelings of nausea or indigestion, drinking hot boiled water has helped me more times than i can count.

Tea, especially ginger tea. It calms my stomach and alleviates nausea. On those days when I can't even think about solid food, I go straight for the ginger tea.

I'm totally with you on this. When I feel things building up, I go straight for the hot water. It helps get things moving. I don't ever get constipated, but I have narrowing at my anastomosis and food seems to get stuck there alot. Then I get gassy. Drinking hot water helps with the gas.

For UC not C

Freshly prepared carrot juice, using organic carrots

It settles me right down almost immediately, and stops the pain and diarrhoea

Discovered it quite by accident and now drink it every day for pleasure, as well as helping with UC symptoms

Great thread.

I totally agree with ginger, and will add peppermint tea to the list. And Ensure!

Sun chips? Haha seriously. My aunt as purely coincidence was volunteering at a camp in california for crohns kids and apparently thats what they gave them so I tried it and it worked! Very well could be in my head but I dont mind either way.

Before my first surgery, when I had really bad stomach pains, I used to try and stick to those foods. Hardly a lot of flavour or taste, but they did tend to calm things down a bit and reduce the amount of times I opened my bowels.

When things are really, really bad the hot water or mint tea really works for me. Semi-bad I eat roasted chicken & white rice.

Here is my list:

White toast with a little margarine
Mashed potatoes
Jello
Kraft Dinner
Hot water
From Subway - Turkey sub on white bread with a little mayo

Ensure.

My albumin is chronically low so scrambled eggs. Wish I liked them more, I try to eat them a lot.

When I was too nauseous to eat pretzels were a lifesaver.

Also Coca-Cola. When I can't eat or drink anything else, that keeps my blood sugar up (probably higher than it should be :p)
